I tried to get a group rate from DT a couple weeks ago and I still have not heard back from them. I think a travel agent is the best way to go.

I'd be interested to compare! This is the first I heard about not having music at El Patio! That won't work. I've just sent an email to sandra and landy, they really should tell you that before you reserve!!
I think you're allowed to have music as long as you rent out the whole restuarant for the $750 fee. As Amy was saying, they don't allow music if there are other diners inside the restuarant because it disturbs them, but if its closed down for your event, you should be able to whatever you want in terms of music.

we haven't received a group rate quote yet...I'm really hoping it comes in around $350 since we're reserving 30 rooms...$390 is pretty ridiculous IMO!

Hi All,

We went directly through the resort and definitely would not do that again. The rate we got (for April 19th, 200cool.gif is $140 per person per night, $180 for the next level room. The prices seemed good, so we went with it (as opposed to the travel agent thing) - however - it has been so frustrating dealing with the resort - they lose things, confuse names, take weeks to respond, never answer all our questions, tell our guests that they can't find their reservation, and despite me asking 400 times, have still not confirmed what type of room they have reserved for us!!!

We have 45 people going, and I had to send 2-3 emails per reservation to make sure they had everything right (and I'm still not that sure!!).

So I would strongly suggest that everyone goes through a travel agent.

I'm so ready to be done with all this planning and be laying on the beach with a fruity beverage!

Oh - and for someone who asked - the cheapest option for a dinner is to do it at the World Cafe restaurant - it is a buffet restaurant and they will section off an area for your group for no extra charge - we are doing that for our welcome dinner the night before the wedding.

Hope this helps!! 18 days to go!!

Leah

Hello All~ This is the first time I've posting here. I thought I would start with a quick hello because I know that in the near future I'll be asking all of you for advice and help. My sister and I are getting married on the same day at Dream Tulum. Our day is confirmed and we are starting the Save the Date process. We will soon be meeting with our travel agent to get thing rolling.

What I've read so far is helpful and I'm looking forward to communicating with all of you. What a fun occasion for all of us. Just hope not too stressful.

Leah, you are down to the wire!!! Wow! I would be freaking out!

So sorry you've dealt with so much crap. I don't know what it is about the work culture/ethic down there?!?!? I am Mexican, born and raised there, and even I get sooo frustrated with the lack of professionalism!!

What I can tell you is that in the end it ALWAYS works out! Go figure! After all the stressing and worrying things always work out perfectly.

So hang in there! Let us know if we can help with anything. I wish I was as close as you are!

Hello, I don't know for sure which building these shots were taken in, the Dreams (newer) or Hacienda (older), but I THINK they are from the Dreams as they are so lovely and from what I have read/heard, the Dreams bathrooms are nicer than the Hacienda (one of the major differences between the two buildings).

Hope it helps a bit! These are actual photos taken by a guest, not a photographer, so they speak the truth! :)

Thanks Leah! That is a perfect answer to my question that I have emailed Sandra twice about in trying to plan the location of my welcome dinner! I will just let everyone know to be at the World Cafe Restaurant and I am sure that'll work!!! :)
