Outside Vendors Shut Out of RIU?

Hey guys, last thing I heard about it si that, as long as the bride or the outside vendor pays the "day pass" ($100.00USD) they'll allow it. But be extra careful about that, my GF got kicked out with police and everything, and she used to WORK FOR THEM..

I just shot "Trash the dress" session at the Riu Sante Fe in Cabo this Friday and I had no problem shooting there for two hours. The couple spoke to the manager without paying anything and I was able to walk around and take pictures anywhere I wanted.

I was married at the RIU Palace in November of 2007 and had no issues getting an outside photographer onto the grounds, although I did have to pay the $75 day pass. I did hear many rumblings on this forum after my wedding about having difficulties getting a photographer in for the ceremony or something though. As for the outside vendors, I was told absolutely NO to hair and makeup personnel as they have a spa onsite....needless to say the quality was not comparable whatsoever. Honestly, my thought would be to not tell the wc's anything and just have the photographer/hair and makeup vendor come straight to your room and skip the whole front desk thing altogether. Maybe that's not right but I don't think anyone really 'patrols' the whole entrance thing at all. Make sure you count the outside vendors as a guest when asked how large your group is for dinner. I think at some point the RIU really has to realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot!

I was also told that I only have to pay the day pass fee if the vendor was staying for dinner. I only hired my videographer for the ceremony and had no issues whatsoever.

I am getting married at the Riu in July and I have not heard anything about this. I do know that you have to pay a day pass, but I was not informed about not having outside vendors go to the Riu at all.

you won't hear about it until your photographer is stopped at the gates...

I have confirmed with my WC, no problem with outside vendors. My photographer and videographer have offered to pay the day pass... I got lucky! It wont be a problem. And i wont have to pay the day pass anyways!
