I got really into spinning last year for awhile, and was going 4-5x a week for an hour. I stopped when I realized my legs and butt were no longer fitting in my jeans b/c the muscles were getting tone and big! I returned to working out on my own and was able to fit my butt back in my pants. After looking back on it, the girls that were there all the time all had big thighs and butts. It was an awesome workout...maybe it was just me, but be careful!

OH now that is something I dont want! Ummmm maybe I should pick a lean muscle exercise routine.

I just started spin classes last week; last night was my 3rd class and OUCH my bum kills! I was thinking of quitting and sticking to my own workout, but this thread motivated me to keep it up. I just want to lose a couple of lbs. Hopefully this will work without making my legs too big. smile29.gifThanks ladies!

I do spin once a week, but I have to follow it with a good back workout because it can be hard on your neck, shoulders, and back being kind of hunched over. The best combo is to do the spin class then the row machine for about 15 minutes....perfect full body workout. I love the adrenaline after a spin class...I have crazy energy. Definatley worth a try...but get a booty pad...you will hurt like heck after the first class if you butt muscles aren't used to it.

hmmm... I definitely don't spin that often just 2-3 times a week at the most and the girls in my class who do it regularly are pretty lean and toned. You can adjust the resistance so your muscles aren't working so hard and aren't building more muscle, just toning. Its like when you are lifting weights and don't want to get big, keep the weights light.

I've also noticed my stomach getting flatter!! YAY!! My teacher says its because you're using your core muscles to hold up your body. Your arms and shoulders should be relaxed and your core is supposed to be doing the work.

Ladies, if you're trying it, let us know your results!!! I'm happy with mine! :)

I never really noticed people in the class having large butts or thighs either. And the same thing I just did it 1-2x per week in addition to step, kickboxing, weights, etc...

I could see how if it was the only type of workout that you did it could bulk you up in those areas.

I started spinning last month and I absolutely love it! It is such a great workout and I feel so good after the class (although I hate myself during). The teacher says you shouldn't bulk up but get toned and I can already tell a difference. Its great for a sexy booty! I go twice a week to spinning, do yoga, and other weight training and cardio as well. I better look damn sexy in my bikini out on the beach this October!!
