Anyone been to Barbados?

I have, was a stop on a cruise I went on a few years ago.

I didn't care for the main shopping area, felt unsafe.

We did a pub crawl...and it was awesome. The Malibu Rum ranch is there and right on the beach, great place to visit!

Yes, definitely. They were awesome beaches.

Actually the Malibu Rum Ranch is directly on a beach. I have to find the photos of us there in the water. I know for sure I have them on my home computer. I will post them on this thread tonight.

So I looked for the digital pics and couldn't find them. I'm sorry. I know that I have them somewhere.

I will ask my friends if they have it. I have the hardcopy in my photo album though, I need to find a scanner and scan them for you.

Shelley~

I've been there on cruise stops twice (I loved my first cruise so much, I went on the same exact one the next time!). Anyway, yes, the beaches are beautiful. I can't comment too much on the rest of it, because both times we got off the ship, got on a bus, and went directly to the beach. The pix of the water look like a swimming pool! Are you thinking of getting married there? Have you seen pix of resorts there?

Barbados is great! The beaches are beautiful, the locals are SO, SO nice!

It's pricey, but not so much so that you're totally floored. It's a former british colony (still part of the commonwealth). The history there is amazing - so many beautiful old churches, so many interesting former inhabitants.

There is a wide range of hotels - from true economy venues to mid-priced AI's (the Almond Resorts group is good), right on up to Sandy Lane, where you can spend thousands per night. We stayed at the Hilton (used my HiltonHonors points) and LOVED it!

They arranged a once-around-the-island tour for us and it was great - went to the rum factory, beaches on the other side of the island, a couple of old churches... so much fun!

I'm trying to post a couple of photos - but photobucket keeps crashing when I try to resize. Let me work on it a bit.

UPDATE: Okay, managed the photobucket thing - here are a couple of photos:

I have seen pictures of the resorts and it does look beautiful, but they make everywhere look beautiful!

No, we are just thinking of vacationing there, the end of April-beginning of May
