So, what's bugging you today?

Maura, you'll love this...

So I think the real reason Step Mom is upset is because I didn't ask Step sister to be in the wedding. Well, I've told all of my friends to find a blue/ocean color dress so we can take pictures and be coordinated. So step sister was all excited and was going to get the same dress as the BMs but in the darker blue. I spent 3 hours in a bridal store with her and she not only picks a totally different dress, it's floor length and green!

It's not the dress it's the effort. I have better ways to spend my time than by offering you opinions and sharing plans only for you to do whatever you want anyway! She's 19 and it kills me how little responsiblity she has. I was not floating through life at 19! I had 3 jobs to put myself through college!

Maura - I'm sorry that the Hotel is being dumb. And I'm sorry that your sister is a twit! I'll totally come help with your DIY stuff - because you KNOW I loves me a project! I'll be your bridesmaid in absentia, and you can be mine. But I'm not buying another dress, because I've already got one picked out for that day.

As for an update on dear-ol-dad, his reply didn't even mention it. Clearly he was a bit ticked, because the message was short and terse, but nada. Which is totally fine by me. (... and the point goes to the bride!)

good on you Becks! weddings certainly seem to bring out the worst in some family members!. I just decided to organise everything myself as I didn't want to have to nag others which I ultimately would have done.

day was great for me, it is now 11pm in Australia so nearly bed time, sun was shining, went for a walk along the beach and made very yummy home made pita bread pizzas.. yum!

i've got a minor "bugging me's" for today :)

early on doug and i decided we were going with the idea of asking guests to wear our wedding colors so the pics look cool, with everyone matching. like 3 months ago my stepmom informs me that she wants to get a blue dress for the wedding (blue works just fine with the colors). ok fine. whatever. she asked me to tell my mom and dougs mom not to buy a blue dress. NONE of them ran out to the store to buy ANYTHING. no big deal to me, i could care less if they show up in a diaper and a happy new year tiara with a paper horn, as long as they like what they are wearing and are comfortable. i'm so totally NOT stressed about when or where they buy it or what they end up wearing.

so last week my mom was on vacation in new york, and she finds the perfect dress at bloomies and ends up buying it. she is in love with the dress, loves how it makes her feel, and is so excited to wear it. my mom is very uncomfortable with her weight right now, and has a hard time finding clothes that make her feel good (even tho she is not that big, just heavier than she has been before, you probably know the drill.) one problem. it's navy blue.

i didn't want to make her feel bad, and she shouldn't anyways, traditionally it is the mother of the bride who picks a dress first, and MOG and stepmom both should follow suit. so i didn't say anything but called SM to tell her my mom got a gret dress while in NY. what color? she asks. navy, i say. she then procedes to flip out saying childish things like 'but i wanted to get a blue dress!'

let me fill you in. i'm 31. my mom is my bestest friend in the world. i adore my SM, who has been my SM since i was 12. we all get along really well. this is the first time EVER that i have felt caught between them.

but i have to say, if you wanted a blue dress so bad why didn't you go buy one so that you would have been able to tell everyone 'i bought a blue dress' and then they would take it to mean something, instead of just saying you wanted to? and even bigger, she knew that out of 200 people at the wedding, she will most likely NOT be the only lady wearing a blue dress, esp. given that we are asking people to wear the wedding colors (varying shades of the ocean, coconut brown and sandy colors.)

then my dad has the balls to call me a few days later to casually mention that SM is pretty upset about it. i love my dear ole dad, but i point blank said to him well too bad, it's not like she had already bought a dress or something. i dont think he was expecting me to say that, but after a min he actually agreed with me!

anyways, i'm not freaked out about it or anything, i'm just super aggravated. i think it goes along with the theme of both:

A-it's my wedding, so get over it and do it like i want you to, and

B-weddings do funny things to normally sane people. i'll just have to deal!

OK, i feel better. off to find something else to grumble about! wink.gif

haha Abbie. That's a completely ridiculous story. Seriously- people have designated colors they wear? That's just silly. If I were you, I would tell SM to try to keep in mind what the wedding is really about and the bride's dress is the ONLY dress everyone should be concerned about. I'd serve her up a dish of guilt really quick so she will stop the petty stuff and move on. With all the stressors in weddings, this should be the LAST thing you worry about. Geesh people!

haha. I'm totally not a "chill" person either. I'm such coiled cobra (as my FI calls me.) Plus I'm so tightly wound, I have a lot of tantrums. rant.gif

For whatever reason, this whole wedding planning hasn't been a huge deal to me. I've been totally chill. I kinda like it. So much better than stressing out over small things.

The funny thing is I asked my mom if she wanted to go to LC early with me to get ready the day of the wedding. She first said no because she said I would be stressed out and all bitchy. haha I laughed at that one because who knows- bridezilla may come out the day of the wedding. She decided to go because I convinced her I have been so relaxed with the wedding. She kinda believed me....i think.
