They must all be different because we brought in our original documents and what she did was make copies of our originals and put a note at the bottom saying that is was a valid copy & notarized it - fyi. jenanmag
The website says 48 hours. I am doing the same. . coming in on Wednesday and getting married Saturday. As for paperwork I just sent mine. I sent our notarized passports and original copies of our birth certificates. Since it has the raised seal, the notary said they do not notarize the birth certificates. I sent mine via FedEx. I wanted someone to sign that they received it. You have to watch because FedEx, UPS etc won't deliver to P O Boxes. My Travel Agent found out directly from Chandyln that if you leave off the PO Box on the address.. .the package will go right to the hotel. Chandyln should receive it this week. . so I will keep you posted on how it worked out and if Isent the correct paperwork. I did it a few weeks in advance in case I had to resend anything.. geology_rocks
I just sent my documents via registered mail from Canada. It cost $19 for the shipping and the ridiculously over-priced envelope. I'll let everyone know how long they took when they get there. ETA: I have no idea when my documents arrived but apparently they are there. I didn't get any update on the Canada Post tracking number or an email from Chandlyn but when I emailed to ask her if she had received them and she confirmed that our paper work had arrived. misstoya
naga0066, we got married already so we're also doing the renewal of vows ceremony. I emailed Chandlyn today asking that very question about the required documents for our ceremony since we don't need a license and I'll post her response when I get it. I just confirmed my wedding but it isn't until Jan 2009 so I don't want to bombard Chandlyn with questions just yet. It would be great to know though! Also, have you seen the wording for the renewal of the vows verse a regular ceremony?
misstoya
No I haven't seen any wording yet. We're having an elder from our church as our officiant so I'm hoping he has something to show me before we go otherwise I'll have to do some searching just in case they don't have anything. Or, we'll do our own vows. Chandlyn STILL hasn't replied to that email about the required docs. I resent it today and hopefully she gets back to me very soon because my next step would be to call somebody above her and she does not want to deal with that because that would not be pretty (for somebody). So standby for that info... Congrats on finally setting your date though.
msasfraz
My agent is telling methat Valeria @ Riu stated 72 hours requirement before wedding. My agent states all other Jamaican weddings that she has done at other resorts follow Jamaican government requirement of 48 hours. We are still checking on this. drbrainfreeze
That would be really crappy! What if you booked your flight and whatnot already? I changed my arrival date from Wed to Tues (Sat wedding) next year for my own sanity!! Watch them shift that to 96 hours by the time its my turn!! You must be in Jamaica 2 full business days before the wedding. Our wedding was on Friday and we arrived on Tuesday. The 2 full business days being Wednesday & Thursday. FYI.
