Cricut Machine

Yeah it has a USB Port. The cable is USB A to b or something like that..but I don't have any software and I heard they have some where you can type into your computer and it will print and it will connect letters and stuff like the preloaded words.

man I wish I was that crafty. No way my FI would go for this! He'd just say "its gonna sit in the closet and collect dust"...hes probably right! I'd be all exicted about it for 5 min and then lose that excitement! Too bad you cant rent one of these things!!

So far I have finished the Thank you cards for my FSIL. I am starting the Thank yous for my friends shower next. I want to make them different though since some people will be at both showers. I found that program but it is like 80.00. I downloaded the trial from hallmark and I can "weld" George font. It seems pretty neat. I have to wait a while before I get that though since i have spent a bunch of money lately.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my Cricut machine. It is the absolute best. Provo Craft was trying to make an affordable cutting machine that would only cut using their cartridges. Because their cartridges are about $60 they are making money from their cartridges. Mickey font is my personal favorite. If you buy Provo Crafts software it will allow you to “weld†the lettering together and also use items from each cartridge that you own….. yet this is not enough… what every crafty user wants is to be able to cut any TRUE TYPE FONT on their Cricut. Other cutting systems will allow you to cut any font but they are even more expensive (over $1,000 for some cutting systems) than the Cricut.

My husband-to-be was searching the Provo Craft forums trying to find a way to cut True Type fonts (he knows I want this) with the Cricut and found a tip from one users. Someone wrote a program for the Cricut and is selling it… this program is called Sure Cuts A Lot. My fiancé bought it for me and sure enough… it will cut any true type font. However it will not shadow or weld but they programmer said that he is working on it and the upgrade will be available to users who have purchased the program already. Because I like to shadow my die cuts… my fiancé found me another program called Inkscape that allows you to make Sure Cuts A Lot files. In this program you can make the shadows for your die cuts.

All of this takes a bit more work that just cutting with the Cricut cartridges but it is worth the effort to be able to use any font you want without having to shell out another $60. Also when using the Sure Cuts A Lot program the Cricut slows down taking longer for each cut. Still I’m so excited because I made our invitations, and now when I do a invitation page in my scrapbook I will be able to use the same font that I used in our invites as a page topper.

Sorry if I missed it, but where can you get the software to be able to "weld" the letters together? Is this for the regular Cricut or for the new Expressions machine?
