monogram/logo ideas

So, I am having a bit of an issue. I want to make a logo/monogram . I'm really not sure how to do it yet, but I think I saw somewhere on here where there were instructions to do so. I will be using Win Word so I am hoping the instructions will be compatible and easy to follow. But this is not my issue. I totally lack imagination and DIY skills and i really want to make a really pretty logo for us. My main problem is I dont want to just design it around our initials. His name is Shane, mine is Melanie. Intitals would be, S&M...really? Does anyone have any suggestions for me, or would anyone like to design something for me that doesnt use our intitals. We are getting married at ROR , Jan.15, 2009. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the DIY portion of my brain did not develop properly!

Yes! I did see I made "junior member"! How exciting. I saw some instructions but they were compatible with power point and I dont have power point on my computer. I'll check out the link you posted and see if that will help me. thanks!
