Leia - thanks for this post!

 

I love the songs Mora recommended! I don't think it would be weird at all for them to do traditional during the ceremony and then something different for cocktail hour. We're having a trio during the ceremony - we gave them a few songs that we like just to give them an idea of what we had in mind, but we didn't give them a play list. My only specific was to walk to Canon in D and we may have the cellist play Ave Maria during the ceremony.

 

Afterwards we're having mariachis who are going to begin playing as soon as we're pronounced and then they will escort us to the reception and continue playing during cocktail hour. I love the list that Mora provided! I have a friend who is also going to come up with some request for that time - I'll get that from him and I'll post it when I get it!

 

Do you know what instruments you're having in the trio?

i didn't know they has to take a break every 15 min.!?! That seems kinda much...and really interruptive.

I told Maye what I wanted during the ceremony (prelude: classical music ex. JS Bach..., wedding party processional - canon D, bride processional - here comes the bride. recessional - traditional wedding march Mendelssohn. Then I gave her Mora's list of songs as a guideline for the music during cocktail hour.

i don't know the instruments, but on maye's website, you can hear a sample of their music/sound.

Usually a trio do not have any kind of break , just the time between each song so dont worry to have silence gaps, if you provide them a list they will follow it smoothly. The instruments in a Mexican Trio usually are 2 guitars: one can be a big one and other kind of small and maracas. It sound very romantic dont worry!!!

if you plan the trio for the ceremony and the cocktail hour I dont know if you can fit both in one hour, but if you love trios as I do, I would def hire them for the dinner too!
