My guests are only staying for about 3 days and I would like some idea of what would be really great for them to do! If you are only doing a symbolic ceremony do you still get some sort of certificate or anything? I think we are going to get married in the states before we leave!? I have tons on my mind if you can't tell!!!!
I'm pretty sure that you get to choose when to do your photos. The entire CD of pictures cost us approx $350USD. My husband & I stayed in separate rooms the night before the wedding but I did kind of see him in the a.m. as there was a little mixup and we both ended up at the buffet at the same time for breakfast..
I recommend the Tulum ruins. You can do a bike tour from the resort or take the bikes on your own - probably not the best route for everyone as the bikes only had one gear and could be pretty difficult to pedal at times. It's about a $7 cab ride and $4 entrance fee - a pretty inexpensive excursion. The ruins are beautiful and you can take time to enjoy the beach & ocean there.

Take some time to search the forums and read through past postings- there are lots of Dreams brides on here. I'm sure you'll find answers to all your questions and more! We're also a pretty friendly group - so ask away!!

I emailed the resort to ask how I could get a copy of the resort photos on their website, and they sent me a link to this site which has info for media:

AMResorts Media Site

On the site I found this document that has lots of details about the resort, most of which I already knew but at least it's all in one place.

I also found here the specifications about the dress code for the restaurants.

Casual attire:

Wold Cafe

el Patio

Seaside Grill

Neat attire (long pants, sandals okay)

Portofino

Himitsu

Bordeau

Gohan

EDIT: I also found the info I took off the website a few weeks ago (I had copied and saved it), the "neat attire" is long pants only, not closed toe shoes

Exactly ! You can no longer reserve a spot in a restaurant... that is why they are building the convention center!

This was sent to me (pdf)...this is the only way I can "cut-paste" !

The ballroom will look AMAZING ! Don't worry girls !

Dinner Policies

Wedding Dinner

The hotel has different locations available to celebrate the wedding dinner , it may be outdoors or inside air

conditioned depending of the preference of the wedding couple , however you should be informed about the hotel

policies to use these facilities.

It is important you know that during 2007 Golden or Silver menu could be served in any of the restaurants or

outdoors locations , however it does NOT mean it will be a private event because it is not included in the wedding

packages .

For 2008 weddings the maximum number of guests allowed to have dinner in the restaurants will be 20 people , for

more than 20 people the dinner should take place at the Ballroom.

These policies are applicable for any type of special dinners like rehearsal , bachelorette party , aniversaries

,birthdays , etc...

calyx6: I can see you had your wedding in Nov. 2007 & I am looking to go to Dreams Tulum in Nov. 2008 and was wondering how the weather & everything was for you at that time?

Also, any other recommendations you have for me to prepare or that you liked & disliked, I would love to hear!!

Thank you,

Laura

Hi, I have a couple of questions: would you recommend the buffet style reception or sit down...and did anyone try the salmon? Also, if you have the reception on the beach or patio can you bring an ipod to play music, or do you need to pay a private event fee if you want to play music? Thanks for all of the great info!

This means no groups over 20 can be seated all together ! Private or not !
Imagine that you want to go to Portofino and it's only open 3 nights a week and on those 3 nights, people reserve it for their wedding... You would be pissed, no (as a tourist at Dreams Tulum not getting married)?

Dreams Tulum have on average 2 or 3 weddings a day ! THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE A NEW CONVENTION CENTER...

Groups over 20 people will have to eat at the convention center and party all night there (well...until 10:30 pm !). Is this still confusing?

It's the same as having a private reception in one of their restaurant but is a big reception hall with many private rooms (big and small).

Hi Laura, I was there from December 8th to the 22nd. The weather was great (but it rained on my wedding day! !) And it was cold on the 16th + 17th; I had a sweather + pants at the end of the day. November is not huriccain season, so you should be fine with the weather !
