Civil "at home" ceremony

I keep on going back and forth on this.

My friend is an ordained minister in the States, and she is doing the ceremony in PV. I believe she has to do the ceremony in the States for it to be valid. I need to look into this.

Wow Girls! I didnt know that it was so hard to get legally married in Mexico. I figured that since this forum is filled with so many Mexico Brides that it was the easiest. Before we decided to get married, I pretty much had it in my mind that i wanted a DW and purposely looked for a legal place. It honestly would have been better had we chose to get married in the UK during the summer - we would have had more guests and we could have traveled Europe afterwards but its was so difficult as well. So I chose Fiji. I just dont want to have to deal with anything more.

I think that if I was getting married in Mexico, I would have to either go to the JP right before the wedding or right afterwards. I dont know.

Well, yes, legal issues here are a little more complex on the civil/legal side of the weddings for foreigners. The language is different, and customs are different and legal formalities are different as well. You certainly can get married in Mexico, but in order to accomplish that,you will have to go through a little bit of trouble and time. A good WC should get this settled pretty well, don't try it alone, you'll only get frustrated. Most people say: get married in a beautiful beach or colonial town of Mexico, and then do the civil one in the U.S. or viceversa.
