Non-religious ceremonies at a resort chapel?

Are chapels available for non-religious ceremonies at the resorts?

I love the Dreams Tulum and El Dorado Royale chapels, and am wondering if its possible to have a civil ceremony at the chapel. Is it completely unheard of to have on at one of the locations?

Has anyone else done this?? Did it feel strange?

My FI and I both grew up in Catholic households but we are not religious people now.

There are a lot of girls on here who are Catholic and having a civil ceremony in Mexico, me included. We are planning on getting married in the states right before we leave to make it easier.

So it is possible to have a civil ceremony at the chapels? I just wasn't sure if this was "against the rules" since you'd be in a church and all...

That I do not know, I am getting married on the beach. There are a bunch of Dreams brides on this forum, I am sure someone will chime in soon.

I am getting married in the spanish chapel at the Dreams Tulum resort. We are signing the paperwork in the states before we leave and having the symbolic ceremony in the chapel.

yes I'm almost positive you can have the civil legal ceremony in the chappel at dreams tulum because that's where I am getting married (civil ceremony) and I was told that the chapel would be my back-up location in case of rain (on a side note, I told them I wasn't really interested in the chapel, so I'm going to have it in the beachside restaurant on in front of the grand staircase of the main lobby if it rains).

Their religious ceremony is a symbolic one only, not legal, so I think they know that people want a legal ceremony (not religious), but also want to be in the chapel.
