Hi All, I have a question for anyone who has actually BEEN to EDR-

So how big is the resort? We are getting married at Gazebo 55 and our reception is at Tucanes. Valeria is recommending that between the two (2 hours) we have an informal cockatil hour at Cotorros. Cotorros is exactly what I am looking for, but it is located what seems like a far away. I'm worried that people are going to be irritated with having to trek all over the resort. Can anyone give me an ide of the actual distance, since I've never been there?

Thanks so much!

The resort is a good 15-20 minute walk end to end. Gazebo 55 is not that far away from Tuscanes. Maybe a 5-8 minute walk. I am not sure what or where Cotorros is. Is is bar? We were looking for a nice place for a cocktail hour too. We have picked the covered pool but are not happy with our selection. How many people are you planning for?

Hey there! 20 minutes from end to end doesn't seem too bad. Cotorros is a cute open air bar, however, it isn't one that you can rent out completely. I don't really want to have to pay for both a cocktail hour and dinner, so I was looking for a place that we could unofficially take over prior to dinner. So it won't be totally private. We are expecting about 40people.

yes it is about a 20 minute walk, at night it was kind of nice because you had the nice ocean breeze, during the day, not so nice, lol!

I didn't get married there, so I'm not exactly sure where gazebo 55 is, but if its near tucanes then I have an idea.

The bar that you're talking about, is it in the casita section? I think that may be the bar we hung out at everynight because it was right next to our casita section and all the other bars were further away. And I did see them setup for a cocktail hour one of the days we were there, it was really cute, they make it look really mexican, I thought it was cute.

I just got back from EDR on Monday, and was married at the Gazebo 55 on Saturday! The Gazebo was my favorite of all the choices... good pick! I do have to say though that the resort is enormous!! It was a slight pain to walk in between functions.

I believe the reception area you are talking about is Gaviotas, which is near the casita section, which is kind of a far walk from the Gazebo, but really, during your stay you will be doing a lot of walking!! I got ready in our casita (3030), our ceremony was at 55 (the complete opposite end of our casita), then dinner at El Cocotal (which was in the lobby), then cocktail hour at the Health Bar (near the casita section) and finally ended up at Guacamayas!!!! Needless to say we pretty much covered the resort. It really wasn't that bad, but just remember- THEY DO NOT OFFER RESERVED SHUTTLES, and there aren't near enough shuttles running as there should be. And, you will see one about every 20 minutes, so in that amount of time, you can walk where ever you were headed!!

Anyways, if it is Gaviotas, I don't think I would really worry about the walk. There is the beach bar on the way which everyone can stop at and grab a cocktail for the walk!

good to see you back Sheaa!! congratulations! I can't wait to hear all about it :)

Oh, if that is the case, then that is where we had ours. It is still near the casita section, but closer to everything else.
It worked great for us- a little smaller of an area than some of the other options, but we only had 40 people.

Wow, thank you - you guys are great!

Now that I look at this further, I think you are right - I think Cotorros IS the Health Bar (why don't they just call everything one name!) :)

Your comments make me feel much better, I think we'll go with the Health Bar for the Cocktail hour and then go to Tucanes.

Wow Sheaa, Sounds like you covered a lot of ground! Congratulations on your marriage! You did something very similar to what we're doing, so I may have more questions for you if you don't mind!

:)

Welcome Back and Congratulations, Sheaa!!! Hope your wedding was more than you had expected it to be!
