Dreams Cancun: Help/Advice needed

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm getting married at Dreams Cancun on 20 August 2008. We've had all the wedding pack sent to us and we have chosen the time of the ceremony and answered some very simple questions on a form we were given through Thomas Cook. I was wondering if anyone else knew whether it is common practice not to decide on cake, flowers, reception etc. until you arrive at the resort??

I wondered if anyone had a contact email address of the wedding coordinator (I think it's Claudia, but not sure if she's the coordinator for Thomas Cook).

We're not even sure what kind of reception we get for the price of the wedding package. There are 15 coming to Dreams for the wedding, but staying in a different hotel. We know we've to pay a day pass for everyone, but would like to know the cost of all the extras so we know what to budget for once we get there.

I've got lots of questions, but feel a bit left in the dark. Our local Thomas Cook travel agent doesn't know much about it at all.

Hope you can ease my worries confused.gif

Thank you

One thing you might want to check on, I had heard from another bride that a certain percentage of your guests have to stay at dreams to have your wedding there, you many want to check this right away.

If you do a search on this forum there is a lot of information on dreams cancun and you'll find the choices for flowers, etc...

I decided ahead of time what I wanted, but they finalize things with you when you get there.

yes, claudia is the wedding coordinator.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'd actually seen some of the pictures of the bouquets after I'd sent my post, which was very helpful.

We weren't told that guests had to stay at Dreams too. We were told that we had to have an upgraded room in order to receive the free wedding package and that guests who weren't staying at Dreams needed a day pass. I'll definitely check this out.

Thank you for the email address for Claudia, I'll send her an email and hope she replies before August smile159.gif

Honestly, we have the point system for a reason, because if people want information from this site, they should be an active member. We've all been new members at one time or another and if we didn't have enough points we particpated more to get them and then we were able to open the attachments we needed.

As Tammy has told us many times, opening attachments puts a huge strain on the forum, so to keep that strain down that is why it costs points.

If everyone just came on the forum to download stuff and didn't have to use points then no one would participate in the forum and this place would be a useless resource, it shouldn't be all take, you have to give as well.

Thanks for all your replies, they've really helped.

I understand now how I need to accumalate points and I quite agree with the system and I've started the welcoming of noobs to help gain a few points when I'm on line.

I must say all the information on here is fantastic and seeing all your pictures makes the planning seem more of a reality.

Thank you everyone!

I was never told that rule either. I was told you had to be there 4 business days before the wedding and stay a total of 7 to have your wedding there even though we paid for a wedding package. Since we are just doing a symbolic ceremony our TA negotiated that it be 4 total nights before the wedding (2 weekday 2 weekend We're getting married on a Monday) and only stay 5 total nights at Dreams because we are honeymooning at Secrets Capri for 5 nights which is a sister resort to Dreams. The TA had to get pretty insistant about it with Claudia, so maybe have your TA do the negotiating. It seems like the rules bend a lot there!
Hi TiffJT,

They way I understand it is that the 4 business days is a requirement of Mexico and it is only for legal ceremonies. You shouldn't have had to negotiate anything if you are not having a legal ceremony. I'm pretty sure of this, does any one else know different?
