In Memory Of...

Recommended Posts

I cry everytime I read those. We are using two of the poems and setting up a memorial table for my father, and maternal grandmother. I had the idea of using a digital picture frame for a sort of slide show with pics of both of them. I'll likely have to stay away from it the whole night. I'll lose it and ruin the festivities, I know.

I chose having a photo attached to my bouquet as a more discreet way of having my grandmother with me at my wedding. My Dad would have been too emotional had I done anything else (also, at the time I was looking into this, my grandpa was planning on coming and he has a new wife).

Here's a pic of my bouquet. I also had my grandmother's ring and my great grandmother's brooch attached as my something old & borrowed.

I also lost my mother recently and she moonlighted as my best friend... I was thinking of asking my step father to dance with me to honor her. I was going to choose the song that her and I danced to at her wedding... (I hope you dance) I am just really concened that I am going to lose it, and not be able to real myself in... I also don't want to be a downer at the wedding she would not want that. So I am not sure, I like some of the ideas in here though.

Possible program wording:

Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven

Where the love of our lost ones pours through

And shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

Celebrating with us in spirit

A memory table with their photos and then

“Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.â€

In loving memory of those who are no longer with us…

(and then listing their names)

or

“We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday and days before that, too.
We think of you in silence, we often speak your name.
All we have are memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake, with which weâ€ll never part.
God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts.â€

In Loving Memory

Perhaps they are not the stars
But rather openings in heaven
Where the love of our lost ones
Pours through
And shines down upon us
To let us know they are happy

Thank you for loving and sharing
For giving and caring.
God bless you and keep you,
Until we meet again.

I'll Miss You at the Wedding
I'll miss you at the wedding,
with all the family near.
Friends and neighbors will be there too,
all whom I hold so dear.

When I turn to look at them,
I'll see your empty space.
But because I know you're watching
it's a very honored place.

And I know that you'll be happy too
because you see that we're in love.
In my heart, I know you are
You're watching from above.

If Tears Could Build A Stairway
If tears could build a stairway
and memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven
And bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
and secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know
But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A cherished place within our heart
Is where you'll always stay

Whispers from heaven

When I left this world without you
I know it made you blue.
Your tears fell so freely,
I watched; I know this is true.

While you were weeping,
Days after I passed away-
While all was silent within me,
I saw you kneel and pray.

From the wonderful place called heaven
Where all my pain is gone,
I send a gentle breeze to whisper,
"My loved ones, please go on."

The peace that I have found here
Goes far beyond compare
No rain, no clouds, no suffering-
Just LOVE from everywhere.

You need not be troubled
Just stay close to GOD in prayer
Someday we'll be reunited
My love, HIS love surrounds you always,
EVERYWHERE!

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your loved ones. My brother passed away and it will be very hard not have have him at my wedding. I was thinking of having a photo frame with his picture attached to my bouquet. I thought of having my mom, dad and other brothers have one as well.
