red orchids in Riviera Maya? other red flowers/

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if you can find red orchids in the Riviera Maya area? My WC said they only come in white or pink, but there are a zillion varieties of orchids, many of the red, so I wonder if I can help her find red ones for me...

If not, does anyone have other red flower suggestions?

Thanks!

I checked with the WC flower expert in our office and she said she is not sure if she has ever seen red orchids before in the florists in the Riviera Maya. We called our best florist and they do not even offer them for special order. Her best suggestion for an alternative is a red alstroemeria (sp?) but she mentioned those are not as dark red as the red orchid.

By the way, I saw that you are doing your wedding at Al Cielo. That is a beautiful location and I think you made a great choice. Take care and good luck.

I'm using red flowers as well, and to keep costs down I went with roses. Red anemones and sunflowers are beautiful, but generally expensive. My florist (in Jamaica) said they could get them, but we would've needed to order 40 dozen - which was WAY more than we needed. Good luck with your quest for red flowers though! Have you considered using silk if you want an expensive flower?

I decided to go with silk flowers, that way I can guarantee the bouquet I want and all at a reasonable price. And I was thinking of putting my bouquet in a vase when I get home too. The lady I'm going with makes bouquets that photo so real! I'm doing white calla with the tips soaked in red, red and pink roses and berries:
