Why would anyone think you want to be surprised?! How stunod of them. I know a lof of people assume that your reception is included because it's an all-inclusive. Maybe they think they can just show up, no big deal because in their heads they think it's not like a reception at home. Again, people are so stupid sometimes!

So I just got home from work, and it looks like at the very least FFIL and uncle are coming - though they still haven't booked. FI had it out with his dad today and told him to not come - just save his money and stay home. This was met with, "No, I'm going to come, because I COULD USE A VACATION IN JAMAICA!" How infuriating! He's not coming to see us get married, but because he decided he wants a vacation. Sooooo the wrong response.

I know the real reason... his friend's dad didn't come to his wedding and told FFIL that he really resented it and has never forgiven him. I know that he convinced FFIL that it was important to come, but honestly, at this point, neither of us want him there.

The definitely will not be getting OOT bags, and I almost hope that they won't be able to eat at our reception. I'm not going to talk to the resort or my WC until I know for sure that they booked. I'm also hoping they come later than other guests and leave earlier, that way they won't be involved in our other events. I'm not going to stress about this - I really just don't care anymore.

Oh, and to top the whole shabang off... FI works for his dad and is not getting paid for this week because his dad doesn't have the money to pay him! Stay at home, pay my future husband, and skip your vacation! I hate people!

I feel your pain! My FI's brother was supposed to be the best man, we planned it, then said he couldn't go (or his family-which is why we picked a family resort!!) Reason: b/c they want to go on a family trip to Hawaii...wtf! Now, they "might" come, but won't know until right before. Why do people think acting like this is okay?!

That being said, I would go on as if they weren't coming and if they show up, they can figure it out! It'd be kind of comical to see a few guys just standing in the back watching everyone else eat wink.gif

Love that! Totally made me laugh :)

Galit you are so right that the worst part about this is that it is family. Family can make you feel wonderful, but they can also make you feel like complete shit! And I hate feeling guilty about being mad about this whole situation. We've had 4 months of being pissed at them for not booking, finally accepted it and were fine, and then they decide to come when they are really no longer wanted... I'm pretty sure my mom is going to essentially start a war with his dad, since she knows the whole situation. Should be interesting. Robin may capture some interesting photos - lol.

What to say... people are so inconsiderate. And I'm sure the guy factor is a major contributor.

My suggestion, get a nice, big fluffy pillow, go over to FFIL's house, ring the bell and when he opens the door, just whomp him with the pillow.

You'll feel better, he'll be dumbstruck. It will be great.

Okay, I admit this is a fantasy I have ALL THE TIME about my FILs.

I can't believe that $hit!! Some people have their priorities SO screwed up!
I am so sorry you are having to deal with all this crap! I feel so bad for you. Just know that in the end everything works out for the best and you will have a great wedding day no matter what!

For this situation, I so wish we had booked at a big resort where that would be a possibility. Since our resort is small (total 12 rooms) it doesn't really work. Today is another day, so I guess we'll see if they book today. I was hoping airfare was super expensive and it wouldn't come to pass, but I just checked and the flights are cheaper than they've been in months (by about $100). Still almost $500pp, but better.
