Livermore Wine Country?

Recommended Posts

I'm still primarily looking at Napa for my wedding, but I'm afraid of being priced out. Have any of you Napa brides looked into Livermore- specifically Thomas Fogarty, Murrieta's Well Winery, or Ruby Hill Winery? Any other advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My parents live by Livermoore, Danville to be exact. They wanted me to get married at Ruby Hill. They went to a wedding there and raved about the food and service. It also has an awsome staircase that you can walk down as you enter the reception. But...to their dismay...I'm getting married in Cabo. Wente winery is in Livermore too. I think that the prices are way cheaper than Napa/Sonoma b/c it doesn't have the prestigious name...it's just as beautiful!

The Danville and Alamo Country club is beautiful and they also have a automobile museum that is nice too.

Check out the "Alexander Valley- Sonoma Co". Not as $$ as Napa but still great. OTG can go to Napa if they wish. Alot of wineries in this area also offer free wine tours. I'm not a big fan of the Livermore Valley...wines are okay. I've had friends get married there and it's okay. Wente is $$$$$

Fogarty winery is beautiful, but the only drawback is the drive...very narrow, curvy roads up to the winery and at night not much light to see where you are going...the winery is located in Woodside, which is about 45 minutes from Livermore...

We went to a wedding at Ruby Hill in June and it was really pretty and the food was good...the nearby wineries are supposed to be just as good as what you'd find in Napa/Sonoma according to many wine aficionados that attended the wedding...

Gloria Ferrer (Napa) has champagne caves where you can hold an event...don't know pricing, but it looks amazing...

I'm also not sure on the pricing for the new Ruby Hill, but we photographed an event at Casa Real, Ruby Hill last year and had a great time! We were able to get beautiful vineyard photographs with the couple, and I'm pretty sure that if you book a Friday or Sunday there's a significant discount.

You can view the slide show of what a ceremony and Reception in Ruby Hill looks like here.

Happy Planning!

Also in California there are some fantastic winery locations in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles (I grew up in the area, and now live in the Bay Area), which are much cheaper than the Bay Area and tend to be more intimate settings due to the amount of open land there. Here's a wedding coordinator from that area, with pics of weddings from some of those winery locations (may give you some decor ideas too):

Good luck!
