Not sure if I saw someone had done this on here... but I was thinking of getting postcards in Jamaica, giving them to everyone at the wedding prestamped and having people mail them to us from Jamaica in lieu of a guestbook. What do you ladies think? Has anyone done this? Do you have pics of what you did afterwards?

I haven't heard of it before ... but I think it's so cool! Especially since they'll have local postage and local canceling ... What a great idea!

Are you thinking of doing them in a scrapbook once you get them all back?

If so - it seems like you might want to buy 2 of each post card - one to give to your guests to be mailed, and one to keep. That way you could mount the written side of the ones that get returned, and the picture side of the one you kept ...

Super-neat idea!

I saw this idea on there and was going to put them in my OOT bags. But my wedding is in Punta Cana and was told that mail is really bad there. I should have the people mail them when they get back to US. I was going to give two to each person, one addressed to us and the other they can send to whomever they want. That's a great idea to have this instead of a guestbook.

I was planning on scrapbooking them, or making a really rustic book out of the postcards - punch holes on the sides of the postcards and then lace them together into a book. I like your idea of buying 2 of each card though :) I guess it will depend on how expensive the postcards are when we get there. I think I'm definitely going to do this - we'll figure out the logistics in Jamaica!

We are doing this too, except we will have them give them to us at the wedding. It is too easy for people to forget to mail them, and I would hate to not get them back. I hadn't thought of mailing them home ourselves to get the full effect though. I will have to send them out myself after our guests give them to us.

I like this idea also. I saw on here somewhere that people were putting them in the oot bags...but I'm still not sure if I am doing those and I agree...people might forget to fill them out and mail them. I was going to do a photo guestbook...just have them sig a card or something and then get photos of each couple/individual and scrapbook them next to each other...maybe I will use the postcard as the "card" they sign and have their pic and the signed postcard to scrapbook....I also like the idea of buying 2 so that you can scrap the front and back....oh I like this whole idea...I think it would be neat to have the mexican postage on their too...but what if they don't get to me?? Hmm.....

When I went to Jamaica for the 1st time I sent a few of my family and friends postcards while I was there.

Postcards are really cheap. I think you can get 3 or 4 for $1. And you can buy them anywhere, the airport, the resort, off the resort at the local vendors, etc. I'm not sure how many you are planning on buying, but remember, you can always negotiate prices (usually off the resort).

The only thing is, people didnt get the postcards for a while (like 2 to 4 months later!) Also, I think stamps were like 60 cents each, if I'm not mistaken. So that's something to take into account.

With all that said, I love the idea! If I do it, I think I will have them fill it out and give it to us while we are still there.
