Where are you registering and why?

Recommended Posts

Wedding Dresses, Weddings, Bridal Hairstyles, Gifts, Favors, Honeymoon, Cakes, Flowers, Supplies, Planning has one of the best and most comprehensive multiple-registry sites. You can choose from 16 or so stores PLUS they allow you to set it up so that every time a gift is bought, they match the charity of your choice with a dollar-for-dollar donation. They also have a honeymoon registry option on there, sponsored by Starwood, so you can go virtually anywhere. (And let me just give my fi a plug here...he's an executive chef at one of their hotels, the Westin, and their hotels truly are gorgeous :)) Wedding Channel sends you a really nice welcome packet and a couple free gifts when you set up your registry, as well as registry insert cards for shower and engagement party invites.

The Knot also had a multiple registry option, BUT people can only purchase the gifts online. Of course your guests could buy in the store, but the Knot doesn't have it set up to align that way, so your guests would have to report to you what they bought to prevent duplication.

Google "cash wedding registry" and a lot comes up. I haven't researched this, but I do know they're gaining in popularity. A lot of banks offer mortgage registries, also.

TammyM - The Home Depot does have a registry, but I believe you are required to set it up in the store.

Jenetta - Any travel agent will set up a travel/honeymoon registry for you, or just google it.

We would really rather have cash, we already have a house, and most of the stuff we need to fill it, but we want to put an addition on within the next couple of years, so money would really help! But I think we'll end up registering at macy's & linen's & things, because we have both stores close by, but people can also order online. I was thinking about doing the honeymoon registry too, but we'll see.

is anyone actually doing the home down payment option. My FI (Will) says he doesn't want to register at all. I was thinking Macy's for towels and other things just for people who are traditional, but we have lived together for so long and moved twice and I don't want any more crap...I just want to move my crap into a house. I belong to BofA does anyone know if they have a wedding registry thing. How do you let people know about the account with the whole etiquette thing of not including your registry in the invites?

We haven't registered yet, however we really NEED to! We were thinking BB&B, Pier 1, & Lowes or Home Depot. We have lived together for quite a while as well, but are in need of some newer items. We are really in need of new appliances and furniture...I want to register for people to put money toward them, but not sure how that works.

We are NOT registering for anything. I just don't feel good about asking people to come all the way to Cabo for our wedding & also ask them to buy us a gift. I am basically telling my guests that their presence is gift enough & if they must do something to please make a tax deductible donation to the Lymphoma Research Project at Stanford University.
