When to send thank you notes for EARLY gifts

We keep receiving gifts and our wedding is not for 6 months! Do I send the thank you note now (even though I do not even know if they will be attending the wedding) or do I wait until closer to the date! In some cases I am not even sure if they are engagement gifts or wedding gifts!

Definitely write the thank you note now. It doesn't matter which event it's for or if they are coming, you can still thank them for the gift and check it off your list. It's better for you to have it done, and better for them to know you received the gift!

I sent my Thank You notes as soon as I got the gifts - it was nice to get them all out of the way early!

hrm, good question...i got a gift a few months ago and wasn't sure what it was for...but got another check last week...so maybe i'll just do the thank yous now....

can i use the same thank yous as for my shower? our real thank yous will be from a pic at the wedding....

yeah i would definitely write them as soon as possible, it will be easier to check off the list that way, you will so many to write.

I wrote thank you notes as gifts arrived (for whatever event - shower, etc.). It's about a million times easier to write five now, a few next week etc. than it is to write 100 at once! Plus that way you will know that you're not missing peeps.

I really wanted to use a wedding photo on our thank you cards so up until the wedding (shower/engagement) I used boxed cards and will send picture thank you cards to guests who made it and guests who didn't but sent us a gift.

MY advice is to send out thank you notes as soon as you get the gifts... I had an unfortunate incident with a guest who actually called my FMIL to "confirm" that I liked the gift because I didn't send out a thank you note quickly enough. Obviously that person just sucks, but I think it's best to send them out quickly. As for thank you cards, I just ordered simple ones from Papyrus with "Galit & Steve" on the front.
