WC Fees..How Much Is Too Much?

Recommended Posts

Hey girls.

Thus far, we've booked our photographer, venue, made arrangements for the cake, flowers and my mom and I have plans to start hitting the crafts stores to start putting together centerpieces and miscellaneous decor. I got several package options from various coordinators, and the ones we were most interested in, we sent a breakdown of what we would need from them to their email addresses. Well, I got one quote at $1200! And thats not including the "donation" we have to make to the priest! That seems a bit ridiculous to me.

At this point, I'm thinking all we'll need is someone to oversee that the details we've arranged are carried out according to our specifications. We've nixed the idea of a reheasal dinner and plan to simply have a cocktail hour and small dinner reception after the ceremony mainly because we know that dinner will be necessary due to our sunset ceremony. The hotel is sending me the information/prices lists for meal plans and service.

Am I missing anything? What do I need to have "coordinated" beyond the basics of time line flow and details for the big day? I guess I'm being cheap (ok, I know I'm being cheap, but hell I've got four kids)

I'm to the point where I'm about to throw up my hands and say we go alone and have it done just the two of us out on an open beach some where with nothing around us but the officiant.

Thats what I'm thinking, Janet. I guess I am just banging my head over nothing, because there IS a package for just day-of with a couple of the WC's, but when I listed a breakdown of what we wanted, needless to say, they didn't suggest the smaller, but the next one up.

I'm just going to pick one and tell them that we want basic coordination for the day and thats that. When I looked at the list, it included a LOT, some things that I hadn't even thought about, so I think that should definitely do it.

If their "day of" coordination is still too much, maybe you could negociate price. For example, if they don't need to be there as many hours as they are charging you for, then maybe they would be willing to lower the cost. After all, it IS less work.

Off topic- your babies and their costumes are ADORABLE!! Are they quadruplets? They look so close in age!

Thanks for the kid comp,Rachel. Yes, they are quads. They just turned 2 on Aug. 28! My Fab Four.

Well, I am emailing her to tell her that if she doesn't think the basic package will cover what I need, we need to negotiate up from that just adding the coverage that I will need beyond it. I am just not paying all that.

She said she would honor her '08 prices which would bring it down by $200, but still, not enough.
