Renting the Disco

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I have rented the disco for two hours following my dinner at the Plantation Restaurant. However, after reading Jerzzygirl's post about it not having very much seating...I am concerned. I was hoping we would be able to have the bride and groom's first dance, make some speeches, etc. However, I don't want 50 guests standing for 2 hours.

Do you think it would be better to rent the Plantation for another couple of hours? Can we hire the DJ for the Plantation? We are getting married on January 17th, which is a Thursday so the beach party is out.

What are the rest of you doing? I would really appreciate any input!

I went to the disco often and from what I recall there are bar stools around the perimeter of the disco and around the bar. For 50 people you should be okay if bar stools will do. IMO if you want it more spread out and relaxed you should check into Plantation and see if the DJ can go there.

This is the only pic I can find, it's a little small and dark but that's why we liked it...lol. This was taken sitting at the bar facing the dance floor:

We are having the dj for 2 hours at the Plantation. I figure that he can introduce us, we'll do our first dance and then speeches, then he can play music while we eat dinner. Then, I rented out the disco for 2 hours, thinking we can just go and dance there.

Right now I have the Plantation booked for dinner for 2 hours and then I booked the disco from 9-11. I know you can have a DJ in the plantation if you want - just let Chandlyn know.

Lizz - I really like your idea of having the DJ for the 2 hours at dinner too?? Hmmm... I'll have to think about that. Also, I thought about increasing the Plantation to 4 hours and just having the DJ there the whole time. It's a little more expensive that way but it might be worth it. Too many decisions...

Thanks.....
we're bringing our own music and asking the DJ to mix in his/her own music.

We brought our own music also to have our 1st dance to. But we didnt rent the disco. I cancelled the reservation and we had our 1st dance on the beach during our cocktail hour. The steel drums stopped playing for just a few mins and Chandlyns assistant just put on the CD for us. The club plays typical US club music.

We are getting the plantation for 2 hours and then the disco for 2 hours. We planned it this way for budgeting purposes. We are not paying for the open bar at dinner. If we had the dancing at the plantation we would end up paying $10/person for the bar, $500 extra for plantation, and $300 more for the DJ. It made more sense jsut to pay $250 for the disco and get all the same services.
