Sand Ceremony

We did the sand cermony and used the large shells. Scott has 2 kids and we got smaller versions of the same shells for them to use so the four of us did it together - it was my favorite part of our ceremony since it united our family together.

The first time Scott sent me flowers he sent 3 dozen (one from him and one from each of the kids) and they came in this huge vase that was pretty so I saved it all these years. We took it to a local engraving store and had our monogram etched on the outside so it is kinda frosted on the vase - it looks awesome. That is what we used to for the center vase for the sand cermony. We put the Cabo sand in a plastic bag and my uncle took the vase and sand on the plane for the ride home as his carry on.

We are planning to get a little sand from everywhere we go on vacation to add to it each year. It should become a nice tradition over the years! The shells are really pretty and so I am going to set them next to the vase or build shelves for them or something.

Hope this helps!

I bought a vase with a lid (stopper) at a thirft store and am going to add some of our ribbon to it. My question is, what do I use to pour the sand into the vase that I am keeping? I don't want to buy more glass containers and try to bring them all with me without breaking, its going to be hard enough to worry about one. Help please!

I love the idea of the nautilus shells, but I can't seem to find them cheap. Anyone else had any luck? I also would worry about them breaking...

Hmmm... I wonder if you could use paper cones, like the petal cones? Might work if you snipped the bottom and then folded it to hold the sand in. Then you could put both cones in the vase at once? Just brainstorming.
