You are so lucky that you are going there for a site visit this weekend!! I wasn't able, but I'm happy to trust everyone else to give me good recommendations that were able!!!

While I'm at it though, I wanted to pass on two other places that our coordinator recommended and her comments--just in case anyone wants some more options. Hope these help : )

*-SPIAGGIA- Spiaggia - Puerto Vallarta Beach Restaurant & Lounger Bar

(Very nice and ocean view, they have a private area we could reserve and perhaps you can choose one menu for everyone, check it out!! Food is good, worth the price, also very close from Sheraton)

*-OSCAR'S- RESTAURANT OSCAR'S - BREAKFAST · LUNCH · DINNER

(This place is lovely and they have a live guitarist at nights, it is right after the bridge ending down town, it's not too close but I think it would be nice for people to go see that side and before or after walk down the malecon. I think you would like this place best, I don't why, it would be a good experience for everyone)

The food was spectacular, the service was incredible and the entire event was arranged through email. The website is época : A Beachfront Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico if you are interested and the owners name is Kurt. We paid $35 a head for GREAT food and the liquer was based on numbers of bottles opened. But I am willing to bet he would work with you based on your budget.

I will be happy to send you pictures of my ceremony if you'd like (I havent quite figured out the posting thing yet)
I'd love to see pictures, we are thinking of having our welcome/rehearsal dinner here. thanks!

I realized just now that I never posted a follow-up to my original question, including what B and I ended up doing.

Long story short, we made the decision to have both our welcome and rehearsal dinners at the resort. We realized that, because many of our guests are coming from Saturday until Tuesday, it would be somewhat nicer for them to be entertained at the resort without having to worry about leaving. So hopefully, despite the absolutely horrendous track record that Dreams has, everything will work out for the best.

Oh, and DeSantos is wonderful. Their event coordinator, Sandra, was fantastic while we were corresponding!
