Email from Riu about fee for Photographer:

Dear Heidi,

 

Thank you for contacting RIU Sales Wedding Department

 

What Michael stated in his e-mail is true, Should the photograher be a family member or friend travelling with them they are allowed to take pictures. A local photograher is allowed at fee of uS200 plus the cost for the day pass. This fee is payed to the Photoshop for the breach in contract.

so from this email I assume I dont have to pay the $200 (since I am not hiring a local photographer)...am I right or wrong?!?!

I'm not sure what she meant by that. Are you hiring him for the videography? I don't think you should have to pay him!! My photgrapher is just saying she is a friend travelling with us. Would that work in your situation?

I asked Michael from Photo Shop if we could do a casual shoot before the wedding, since I was going to be paying a fee for an outside Photog. He said he would for an additional charge. The fee was just b/c another photog will be present. That is BS. I was also bummed because we were hoping to have a videographer for the ceremony and the disco. You can only book consecutive hours though. So I would have to pay for the ENTIRE day, just to get video for the 3 hours I wanted.

That is good information. I have an outside photgrapher as well and was wondering how it would turn out. I am worried I don't want him bothering us on our wedding day. I was going to hire him for the videography but I don't want to have to pay him $200.00 for not doing the photgraphy.

I can't belive all the problems that everyone is having with Michael. So you can't hire him for the videography unless you book the whole dayhuh.gif

So I'm confused. What if I want no professional photog and I just have my family and quests take pictures. My sister had a professional photog at her wedding and then she handed every quest a throw away camera and they all took pictures and then returned the cameras to her and she had them developed. They were amazing. Each one was different and a different POV.

I don't want to have to pay some idiot 200 bucks NOT to take pictures at my wedding. Thats ridiculous!!.

You don't have to hire him for the whole day. You just have to hire him for consecutive hours. I wanted from 4-5 and from 9-11, but he won't do that. I would have to book for 4-11, which is out of my budget for videography. Bummer!!
