Yours look fantastic! Darker ink definitely makes a big difference. And they do look great when lit up in the dark (we did that last night). Your presentation was much nicer than mine :)

I will try on w/our logo when I get a new printer cartridge - cuz I know all the blues are done on ours! Actually, I think it's cheaper to buy a new printer - how rediculous is that?
Yeah, I definitely learned that darker ink is better. The light ink just doesn't show up well. I tried doing the taupe ink that I wanted for mine and because my printer is psycho I ended up with purple- go figure. Actually, we kinda liked the purple, so I might experiment with some other colors.
I went to Hobby Lobby this morning and bought a couple other kinds of vellum and some spray glue, so when I get a chance I'll try again and post the results. It probably won't be until Thursday though, since that's the only night I have off this week- they definitely look better in the dark.
As far as my presentation- I'm such a dork! I had put plates and stuff on my table so I could decide if I liked the luminarias for the place settings, then I decided I should add some flowers and stuff. I can seriously get way to carried away...
I can't wait to see your next attempt. I have to get a new printer cartridge too, and I definitely agree on the cost being the same as a printer. I have an old HP that has served me well for about 8 years. But, the ink for the damn thing costs as much as a new printer does!

OK this is my 1st attempt at posting a picture - I found these on martha stewarts website - i thought they were cute!
Martha said in her instructions that she glued the design to the INSIDE of the bag - I am not sure if this would also work but might be worth a shot. Also has anyone seen velum bags for sale anywhere - the would be cool if you could print dirrectly on them and not have to glue or tape anything OR you could stamp your design on the outside or something....just thinking out loud

They have clear 8x10 labels at Office depot and the company that makes them has templates(word format) online that you can download. So instead of printing on the vellum paper you could just print labels with your logo, names, etc... The templates contemplate several sizes and designs and this way you can center by hand when you stick on names.

What a practical idea! I think I got so carried away that I was even doing a "project" that all common sense left my body. I actually have those labels here at work. I'm gonna print some up & see how they look as a luminaria toinght! THANKS FOR A SIMPLE IDEA!!!

Hahaha! Totally! I can't even believe I started this. A funny thing - I even conviced myself I was going to make our invites...I came down from that ceiling earlier today when I stared at the sample paper I had in our dining room and could even begin to imagine actually doing it. The directions seemed so simple...but the reality is, I think it would drive me insane!

I just realized we only have file folder label size clear labels, so I'll need to go get the larger shipping size labels some other day. But I'll definitely give this idea a try.

Ok, I finally got smart enough and copied all my wedding docs to my work computer... It was rare that I could go home and jump on the forum.

We made luminarias for our margarita party. I have attached a template we used that prints 6 logos/pics per one sheet of vellum paper. (See pic for size alignment with paper.)

We followed directions just like what Christa posted at the beginning. We bought the white bags at Michael's and used white vellum and spray adhesive.

Make sure you allow time for the vellum to dry between each printing.

If something touches the vellum, you will get ink all over.

Let me know if you have any questions.
