Time for pics

How long did people hire their photographer for? And did you wish you had more or less?

i had mine for about 5 hours and wish i had him for another hour before the ceremony...

my contract states 6-7 hours. I think that will be plenty of time, but we'll see. I think that 6 hours seems to be standard for most weddings in the US

I said 2 - 4. I think we are only going to hire a photographer for 2 maybe 3 hours basically because they are SO expensive. But we also have a lot of friends who are photographers coming to the wedding (we don't want to hire them otherwise they won't be able to drink and have fun) whom we plan on telling to take tons of pictures and burn them on disks for us.

But even if your friends aren't photographers I feel like you'll get so many pictures from everyone during the reception and everything that past hour 4 everythign has been shot...

I currently have Juan hired for 4 hours, but I'm thinking about going longer.

I hired Juan for two hours, so I picked 1-2. I only wanted ceremony pictures and after, our wedding is very small so I didn't thing anymore was needed.

We hired Juan for 8 hours on wedding day and 3 hours the day before for our welcome reception. I really wanted him to be there to capture all the moments!!!

Janet - i can't wait to see all your 100s of pics! But that makes me feel good about my decision. It sounds liek 3 hours is perfect!

We hired Manuel for 4 1/2 hours day of the wedding and 1 1/2 hours for day after pics.
