I would suggest doing it just like any other 1 pm wedding in the states. Go get your pictures done immidietly afterwards while your gusts are enjoying cocktail hour and than before you know it it will be 2:30 or 3:00 pm and you can serve a nice meal. Maybe serve ourderves until 4:00 and than serve dinner.

this is what i'd suggest as well. i don't get the brunch style thing - does that mean like breakfast style food? i think i nice afternoon ceremony, with hors d'ouvres and then a meal sounds perfect. then depending on your guests and your taste - you can head in early, or dance the night away!

Welcome!

I am a soon-to-be Dream Cancun bride too (Oct. '07). We decided on a 4pm ceremony time with a more traditional dinner and dancing reception to follow. I'm not aware of any of the other girls doing and early ceremony with a brunch, but it sounds nice. I'd be a little concerned with the heat and sun if you plan on doing in outdoors.

Isn't 4 the hottest time of day? I'm doing 4 too, but I've worried about the heat.

Great suggestions! I appreciate everyone's input - I hadn't thought about the cocktail reception they offer in the wedding package. What do you think about cocktails immediately following the reception for an hour while we do pictures, then serving a buffet reception at 3:30 to conclude at sunset? Do you think that's too long of a reception for a destination wedding?

(Many thanks to Paula for the sunset calendar!)

I don't think that is too long... we are actually doing it in a different order:

3:30 ceremony until about 4

4:00 group and family pictures, followed by bride and groom pics, while from

4:30-5:30 cocktail reception

5:30 - 8:30 dinner reception

May extend an hour or so then continue the party at either the lobby bar or the one next door.

We're planning a 1 p.m. ceremony and are looking for suggestions on how to handle the reception. Claudia, the coordinator at Dreams has suggested a brunch-style reception, immediately following the ceremony. Has anyone experienced that? Is this something guests enjoy? We expect between 30 and 50 to attend.
Hi. We are getting married at 2pm and this is how we are handling the time: 2-2:30pm wedding ceremony, 2:30-3:30pm cocktail hour on the beach, 4pm reception starts, dinner served at 4:30pm, eat from 4:30pm-5:30pm, DJ plays, dancing until 8pm. Then, I figured for any of the guests that want to hand out, we'll just head to one of the resort bars/pool area. Maybe you could push the wedding to 2pm? But, if not, I think that brunch sounds fun - it is just dependent on whether you want dancing, drinking, etc.
