Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

Help and advice needed please. My wedding has srunk in sixe from around 24 people to just 10 adults / 3 teenagers / 3 children. Primarily due to NASA reschuedling a space shuttle launch to November 1st and my wedding being November 3rd. I live in Florida and now none of my collegues can attend plus friends as this is our livelihood so we can't leave on such a important week. I cannot reschuedle the wedding as my perants and my FI children are flying from Europe so this is set.

We have booked Ultimate Package plus DJ and lighted dancefloor. This was for the garden reception.......

Now with such small numbers wont this look really silly and be a huge expense for just this amount of people, and 16 people with all the children on the big garden area.... also prehaps it is better for me to not take the ultimate but book the wedding a la carte as I dont need to pay for all the alcohol etc....

What would you ladies do in my situation?

Has anybody had a smaller wedding? If so how was it?

When I look at the reviews I only see 20+ people so I am not sure what I could do?

I emailed Cecilia but know she is extremely busy this month so dont expect to hear back from her for a few weeks, in the interim any ideas you may have or notes on what you did prehaps for smaller weddings would be greatly appreicated...

Thanks and take care

Tori

I would definately do something smaller. maybe you could have the reception in the terrace so you don't have to rent a dance floor. i definately would not have a dj or the ultimate package, unless you want pics and the video. after dinner maybe you could all go to the lobby where they have live music or to one of the clubs.

Girls,

So sorry I have not yet made a review. All I could say though is that everything was amazing - from the flight, to Claudia, to the salon, to the gazebo. Here are links to my fb albums w/ the wedding pictures. I had my cocktail hour in the garden, ceremony at the gazebo, and my reception at el caribe beach. In one of the albums I also have some pictures from my TTD shoot. I brought my photographer, videographer, musicians from new york, and my rabbi from florida. If you have any q., feel free to ask b/c I really don't know when I'll get my review done by. Good luck everyone :)

Oh oops, I forgot to mention some negative things: no hot water, my room got flooded the day before my wedding b/c a pipe broke and the bottom of my dress got wet (but they took it to the cleaners immediately & we got upgraded to the master suite), and the hotel was overbooked so they kept trying to get my guests to stay elsewhere - but besides that it was great.

Oh and I got in a fight with a "KAPITAN" at Oceana Grill, but the restaurant was amazing!

Hi. There are just going to be 9 of us at my wedding and I decided to do the ceremony at the gazebo and for the reception we are just going to go the restaurant on property for dinner and not have anything formal. We are also having a reception back home when we get back so we don't need anything over the top in Mexico.

Thanks Ladies, we are ot doing anything when we get home to Florida although our friends are all here our families are in the UK. Does anybody happen to have the A La Carte Wedings price list? I think I am going to go through it and really pick and choose what we need.... then I can look at it price wise to the package. I think I can plan it nice, just different, just getting used to the idea of a smaller wedding! If anyone has the price list I would appreicate reciving a copy as I know Cecilia is overwhelmed in July!

Thanks,

Tori

hi! i got back from cancun last week and had the time of my life at dreams! and so did all of my guests! i was pretty nervous about the weather since the forecast showed thunderstorms and rain the whole week. shows how much weather.com knows because all i saw were blue skies and crystal clear waters (except for the 1 time that it drizzled for 5 min). cecilia was my coordinator and is super sweet and really professional. i was so impressed with how organized she is and she felt the same way about me. i made things really easy for her and organized all my decorations in big zip locks with simple directions and photo mockups of how i wanted everything.

i hired dj mannia. i sent them my final list of songs and event schedule via email so i was surprised to hear that they didn't have it when i arrived at the reception. aside from that they did an excellent job. my advice is to bring a cd of your first dance, bouquet toss and cake cutting songs for back up.

i'll hopefully post my detailed review soon. here are a few teaser pics:

loved my makeup and hair which was done at the spa. i think my stylist's name was juana. they have a huge binder of samples but i came prepared and brought my own pic of how i wanted my hair and makeup. i even brought extensions to make my hair fuller and juana was able to use them.

i spent soooo much time making flower garlands to hang from the top edges of the gazebo but it was so pointless since we couldn't use them. it was too windy and they would end up getting tangled.

i got so many weird/negative reactions when i told people my bridesmaids were wearing off-white to match my dress but i love how it looks!

my reception was on himitsu beach (i think someone posted a question about this earlier). my head table consisted of just me and my husband. our table is on the right and in front of the dance floor (our backs toward the beach). we were facing himitsu restaurant and people were watching our wedding but it didn't really matter to us.

my diy centerpieces — i printed table #'s on vellum paper and just folded them into rectangles. i placed battery operated candles in them.

just holler if you have any questions!

Wow Shia, it looks beautiful - you dress is lovely and I like the white on white, its unusal and delicately pretty. THe gazebo looks great, can you share what the measurements were please for the curtains you made - did you have to sew the top or anything on them? I think they frame the gazebo really well...

CAn't wait to read all the reviews :)

Take care,

Tori
