The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Trying to choose a room at Dreams Tulum (DT)? Just booked, haven't been there yet. But this info took a long time to sort out (even most travel agents aren't fully informed). Hope it helps you.

Please confirm your own booking details via an agent or Dreams, but now you'll know what to confirm/ask.

Resort map: Suggest you refer to it on the DT website link provided. Hover your mouse/cursor over the white dots & you'll see more info.

Room Locations:

Hacienda rooms = rooms in older buildings

Dreams/Premium/Preferred rooms = rooms in newer buildings

Ocean Front = rooms only along the ocean-facing side of the newer (Premium/Preferred) buildings in the pool/beach area. All Ocean Front rooms are junior suites or suites.

General resort layout:

- Conference center at back of resort furthest from beach.

- Hacienda buildings are in the back 1/2 of the resort and a couple are near the beach.

- Reception Lobby/Night Club building that includes some Premium/Dreams/Preferred rooms are mid-resort.

- Newer (Premium/Dreams) buildings are in the front half of the resort between the Lobby and beach. Note: there are a couple of Hacienda buildings near the beach, too.

Room Categories:

1. Deluxe rooms - least expensive, in the Hacienda buildings

2. Preferred/Premium/Dreams rooms - only refers to preferred location on the resort property which means you are in the Premium/Dreams (not Hacienda) buildings that are newer and closer to the pools & beach. When you look on the resort map on the DT website you'll see the new buildings marked as having Premium rooms.

3. Preferred Club rooms - (different from Preferred rooms) have Preferred Club access: an upgraded amenity package including access to an indoor Preferred Club area, free in-room wifi, upgraded toiletries, etc. See full Preferred Club amenity list on the DT "Guest Rooms and Suites" web page. The least expensive room with Preferred CLUB privileges is an Oceanfront room.

Room Views: Garden View, Ocean View, Ocean Front

Room types:

1. Deluxe Garden View - 451. sq. ft. - standard hotel room layout, in Hacienda buildings

2. Junior Suite Garden View - 515 sq. ft. - hotel room + sitting area layout, in Hacienda buildings

3. Premium (aka Preferred/Dreams) Junior Suite Garden View - 547 sq. ft. - hotel room + sitting area layout, in a Premium (newer) building

4. Deluxe Ocean View - 451 sq. ft. - standard hotel room layout, in Hacienda buildings

5. Junior Suite Ocean View - 515 sq. ft. - hotel room + sitting area layout, in Hacienda buildings

6. Premium (aka Preferred/Dreams) Junior Suite Ocean View - 547 sq. ft. - hotel room + sitting area layout, in a Premium (newer) building

Rooms with Preferred Club access:

1. Preferred Club Jr. Suite Ocean Front - 547 sq. ft. - hotel room + sitting area layout, on ocean-facing side of a Premium (newer) building directly overlooking pool/beach (see resort map)

2. Preferred Club Honeymoon Suite - 627 sq. ft. - TO BE CONFIRMED: on a corner of a Premium (newer) building directly overlooking pool/beach (see resort map) with 2 walls & 2 balconies exposed to oceanfront, some with jacuzzi on balcony

3. Hacienda Preferred Club Suite - 623. sq. ft. (some have larger balconies) - larger than the junior suites but in the older Hacienda buildings

4. Hacienda Preferred Club Presidential Suite - 1096 sq. ft. - in the older Hacienda buildings

5. Preferred Club Presidential Suite - 1948 sq. ft. - with a King bedroom in the new Premium/Dreams buildings.

Note! A Preferred room is NOT a Preferred CLUB room, e.g. my agent's confirmation sheet showed our booking as a "Preferred Junior Suite Ocean View". It was correct but at first I assumed we'd have Club access & you don't with Ocean View rooms. Apparently DT's converting their Preferred room names to Premium to distinguish them from Preferred CLUB rooms. However, their own website & tour operators haven't caught up with that yet.

I hope this helps you.

Hey ladies - this forum has been so helpful in our planning process. And for that our guests and my fiance and I have decided to stay at Dreams Tulum. We're getting married on February 26, 2011 and already counting down the days! I think I have seen one or two others that are around that timeframe as well. We're expecting around 60-70 guests, which is honestly a lot of people to think about! We're are getting married offsite at Akiin Beach Club in Tulum, but hoping to just have our rehearsal / welcome dinner at Dreams the Thursday night before our wedding. All of the per person dinner fees seem SO expensive though - especially considering our guests are already paying for all their meals. Ideally we can make something work out, but from the other posts I have been reading, the days of the $20 meal are few and far between. I did read a few times that they would allow this for the rehearsal dinner - has anyone confirmed this?

I have a question for you. We are thinking of doing the wedding off-site at Akiin as well and doing everything else at DT. I got all the information from Sandra she's been super nice. How are you transporting your guests?

Hi ladies!!! I just got back from our trip and wedding at Dreams Tulum and all I can say is it was absolutely AWESOME!!! I will be writing my review soon, and it will be a little different, since we only had 13 guests, went with the free package, and did our own dinner/entertainment arrangements.

I will say this though, definitely double check your contract!!! I double checked the contract, and she had written down the sound system as $625, not $150. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Once I pointed that out, she changed it right away and fixed it.

Hi!
That sounds like a great idea! Yes, when I was married back in May I asked Natalia about the $20 option and that no longer exists, urgh. BUT, we had our welcome/rehearsal dinner at the World Buffet Cafe. It was the free option- but it was amazing. We had our own section of the restaurant, own waiters (they didn't get our food for us, but drinks etc.), and even our own entertainment (no I didn't plan that!). They made it really special, I wouldn't have changed a thing.... =)

Wow- I wish I could go back in time... such a great feeling right?? Anyway- we did go to the mayan ruins/chichen itza (totally worth it), it is a day trip though- we left early in the morning. You'd want to go in the morning because it gets so hot there. Took is a good couple hours to get there, but the bus provided food and drink, and played movies both ways. I can't remember exactly how much it cost, so I don't want to quote you a price- but we used the tour set up at the resort- it was so easy. When you first walk into the lobby- hang a left- and there is a little space where they set up the tours for you. It was an awesome day, the most beautiful thing.
Also if you don't want to go all the way to chichen itza- you can catch a cab to the Tulum Ruins, equally beautiful and it's only about a 10 min. drive down the road =) that was only a couple bucks.
