I went round and round with what type of invites and STD's I wanted to do. I decided to just make boarding pass invites and include a magnet from Vista Print for a STD. After lots of hard work, a template and some help from Jessica, here they are:

Hey Rachel,

Yea, I am just throwing them in together. I have emailed our guests updated info about the trip 2 or 3 times now so we pretty much have an idea of who is interested in going and who is not. We have a pretty small group (21 guests) so I decided to go with a less formal invite and just make the magnets.

Tami,

If you PM me your email address I can share the template. I made 25 of these. I printed the 5 page boarding pass on white card stock, which used 1 2/3 sheets of card stock. I then printed the "envelopes" on blue card stock, printing one side and then flipping it over to print the reverse side (the interior side has dotted lines to show you where to fold it). I then wrapped with the raffia and then hot-glued the starfish. To get the rounded corners I just went and bought a corner punch at Hobby Lobby. You can find them in the scrapbooking section at Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics.

Awesome! They look great! I might do regular invites since we're sending like 165 ... and then send these to the confirmed guests (45 so far) once we get closer ... but I LOVE them! PM'ing you my email!

That's a good idea. Don't waste money/effort on invites for people who have no intention of going. We kind of did that too...but we sent our STD's out separate. We invited those that showed interest when we announced our wedding was going to be in Mexico. Those that said NO right away, we didn't even put them on the guest list.

I have yet to make my invites though...I only have 35 to make thankfully. Hope they turn out as cute as yours!
