Wedding Dress Prices?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the compliments on my dress. It's always nice to know that other people think that it is pretty too. :)

Sarah, I really love the beading on your gown! It is gorgeous!

Forgot to mention, www.perfectbridal.com was where I found the lowest quote on my dress, in case anyone wants to shop their prices, etc. The way it works is that you send an inquiry, then they send you an email that says that you have to call for a verbal price quote over the phone. Seemed kinda weird, but it saved me a good amount of $ to do the research. When I called they said that they have an actual store front somewhere in California, but they wouldn't tell me where. I didn't want to buy directly from them, because I couldn't verify that they were an authorized retailer, and that was important to me.

I ended up falling in love with one that was retailing for $700 - $770. I ended up ordering the dress from RK Bridal in New York. They will beat any on-line price quote by 5%. I felt comfortable ordering from them, because they are listed on the manufacturer's website as an authorized retailer. The lowest quote I was able to find online for my dress was $499, so I ended up buying the dress for $475 with no tax because I live outside of NY. Also, there was no shipping cost, per my original on-line quote from another retailer.

RK bridal was quick to reply and confirm my order. I ordered the dress a few weeks ago and it should be here by the beginning of February (assuming all goes well). :)

Hi ladies-

Mine was $1200 at half price because I bought it at a sample sale. My alterations are just about $100 cuz it fits like a glove other than a couple inches on the bottom. My mom bought my veil but I think it was about $300. I am obsessed with designer gowns but didn't want to pay the price so I tried on lots of once-wed and sample gowns. There is a great salon for these in Chicago called White if any of you are looking in that area.

Thanks Jessalyn! I have to admit that I spent an entire weekend obsessed with it... hee hee hee. But I did "borrow" a lot of information from other people's sights.

Jen, Sounds like you got a great deal! How did you find out about "white"? I'm in Los Angeles and I feel like there must be a place like that here too.. anybody heard of any?

Kashmira,

Have you considered trying the garmet district in LA. One of my friends said that on certain days they are open to the public, or if you know someone with connections/business license (or something like that) you can go anytime.

She said that there are some awesome gowns there for cheap, but that you have to be ready to buy that day and pay cash. Sorry I don't have any more info than that, but maybe it will be helpful.

Yes - that is the place! I didn't end up buying my dress at White, but found quite a few that were almost it. You will love it - they are great there and have lots of fabulous dresses. Make sure you call for an appointment and good luck!

Jessalyn - I have to admit I didn't think about that. I do know that the CA Mart and New Mart (where all the fashion showrooms are) have Sample Sales once a month but unfortunately you have to wear like a size 2 - 6 to buy anything there. I wonder if the bridal showrooms would have bigger sizes... I'll have to look into it. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a wholesale license but if I can find a place that markets to a larger sizew then it's possible their samples will be bigger... okay I'm off to look this up!
