Anyone Use Mary Kay???

A friend of mine just became a Consultant for Mary Kay and is very excited about it ... hence, she is a bit pushy about buying/trying the products.

Ugh! As if I need another thing to buy. BUT, I want to be supportive because I am a Wine Consultant and she buys wine from me. I use MAC and my Mom sells Avon, so I use some of her products as well ... but looking for some input about Mary Kay.

Anyone use any of this product line and can make any recommendations? I've used it before (years ago) but I know it's changed a lot recently and is supposed to be more trency and not targeted toward Grandma's so much anymore (my friend is trying to target the younger generation -- 16-25, her daughter's age group).

Wondering if I'm going to buy from her (which I feel obligated to do, at least once) should I try some of the skincare products or just get a few colors or eyeshadow, lips, etc...

Anyone?

my sister had a personal facial thing for my mom one mother's day so I felt like I had to buy. I bought this compact thing that had 3 colors of eye shadow and blush and I bought lipstick and eyebrow pencil.

I also bought the foundation and something else...I was suckered! :)

Anyway, I didn't really care for the foundation. It covered okay but it was kind of thick. Not cakey when you have it on, but too thick to rub on (if you know what I mean) It was annoying!

However, the lipstick I loved and reorder it all the time and the same w/ the eyebrow pencil. I have been using the blush and the eyeshadow too and I am out of both so I am contemplating reording it all or tyring something new.

i am one who has different brands for all my make-up. I use mac compact only ( I stopped using foundation all togther).

i would say it's a worth a try to help her out and try it out. If you don't like it you don't have to buy more. Or you can keep buying something small like lipstick if you find one you like so that you support her...

Thanks for the input. I definitely won't be getting any foundation. I'm too loyal to MAC and Bare Escentuals for that -- my skin loves those product lines for foundation.

I will likely get some colors (eyes, lips, cheeks??) -- maybe even a fragrance. I'm wondering too about the skincare line. I use alot of AVON and like it ... and it seems more affordable than the MK ... but if anyone uses and relies on MK skincare let me know, maybe then I'll give that a whirl.

I was a consultant when I was younger.. I don't use anything now, but I loved the satin hands line. I do still have the extra emollient cream. (it's probably 12 years old, ew!) lol You basically have a buffing cream to get all the dead skin cells off, then slather your hands with the vaseline stuff and put on gloves or socks... you hands do feel really nice afterwards. You can buy in a set and give as gifts.

I know this thread is really old now...but I wanted to put in my input!

I sold MK for a few years & then just didn't want to put in the effort anymore. The only thing I use for skin care & cosmetics is still MK - for me, it has been the best thing I every tried for my skin. I still have a tonne of inventory, so if anyone would like a list of what I have please PM me...I'm selling it all at 40% of the retail price.
