I LOVE that dress!! I think if they could match the material well, satin would be nice. But after hearing some reviews of the thin satin (not sure if this is the same as "soft satin" though) I think i'd go with taffeta if you want it flowier/softer. OR ask them if they could send you material samples. Somebody awhile back mentioned they offered to do that.

this is such a gorgeous dress. i think satin is definitely the better choice.

i consider taffeta to be a stiffer material than satin - and i don't think it will give you that rich, soft look.

what a beautiful dress AJ Mitchell.. good luck with choosing the right material. if they offer you a better quality of satin then you should definitely think about spending a little more to get this flowy look...

@peterpanpixie: did you get your dress yet or are they still working on your changes?

Thats a very beautiful dress. I think judging from the pics of their think silk I would say beware and go with the silk taffeta. Luciel had her dress made from silk taffeta (go to page 45 of this thread) and it came out looking very very nice. I just sent them an e-mail to see if my dress can be made in silk taffeta as well. Good luck and keep us posted.

Actually that's my dress on page 45? And it's the poly taffeta because I didn't want to pay twice as much for silk taffeta when I didn't know what the difference was.

AJ- Those pictures are good representations of what your dress would look like in taffeta though. My skirt doesn't have any layering or volume in it. I'm sure there's a way to make the skirt even more "slinky" and less voluminous by using less material. The taffeta is thin and really soft. Before I went dress shopping I ruled out taffeta dresses because I thought of the huge, stiff 80's style material. My dress is not even close to being like that. It seems like in this case, the satin is thicker and stiffer than the taffeta. BUT i'm only basing my opinion off my dress and the review on page 89 of peterpanpixiedust's dress that was made in "thin poly-satin"

Janine, did you get pics of your dress yet? I'm so confused about what to for Material. I'm going to check out the Silk Taffeta and see what it looks like.

Sorry I mean page 83 of this thread. Luciel said in her post hers was made of silk taffeta......I think. I enquired and they said the silk taffeta will cost $120, they still didn't answer my second question of whether it will look well.

alright girls: I took some pics of my dress today... I could tie it up pretty tight and I hoped that all the crooked parts would disappear but it still looks weird on/to me... I will post some pics of the whole dress first and then show you some details that I think make the dress look really sh...y!

I dont know if I can fix that all... my mother in law said its all just small things, but because there are so many small things I´ve noticed, it just gets a whole big unignorable thing...

this is the sweetheart cleavage... totally crooked... the left side looks normal, the right side goes up too much

looks weird, right:

AJ Mitchell, I am in the same boat as you. I haven't ordered my dress yet cause I can't seem to figure out the fabric.

Christina, I see what you are referring to with the sweetheart neckline but it is a very small difference. I mean if you hadn't pointed it out I don't think I would have noticed. I was caught up in looking at the rest of the dress....which is gorgeous and came out really well. I especially like the back and am impressed with the detail on the back. Is this your TTD? I am sure the sweetheart is easily fixable. What fabric did you go with? Is this the poly-taffeta?
