My hair stylist doesn't do extensions or anything of that sort, just blow outs and my friends just don't have my type of hair so turning to them is useless. I was thinking about clip ins but was unsure where to look or even what brand to look into. I am gonna see if I can find a store in Miami that carries the remy renoir. My hardest thing will probably be matching my hair color. Thank you, thank you, thank you though cause I feel like at least I have some direction now.
YAY!! I'm glad I could help!

Well good luck, you can call luxuryhairplus and see if they'll ship to you in fl, and ask them where they're carried down there.

BUT!

My friend did this and I thought she was a genius.....she bought strips of hair (tracks?) and made them into clip ons by sewing on clips that were sold at the beauty supply store. She matched the hair to her head in store, wrote down the brand/color etc. and ordered online somewhere for cheaper and then MADE her own clip ins.

You may really want to check out LHCF (longhaircareforums.com) for info on weaves. I know a lot of women like BHM black hair media forums...they have a whole section about weaving and whatnot so maybe you'll find more clip in info there.

i've really been considering leaving my hair alone for the day.

but me and one of my BM's have been looking into half head wigs. because the only day I really need to make sure my hair is perfect is on the wedding day..other than that I plan on being free as a bird. we just want something that is easy to deal with.

Love the blog!! Will definitely keep an eye on it. I've pretty much the same thing you did a few years ago while in college transitioned out of relaxed hair but transitioned back after finding my current hair stylist...she is fabulous! I swear if I lose her....well I don't know what I'll do. When she goes home to DR I literally count the days till she is back. I'll check into the clip ins and thanks for all the suggestions. You rock!

Oh YAY!!! Thanks!!! I'm glad you like it.
Ooooh i know what you mean about a stylist you love that much!!! It's so nice to have one!!!
I was stylist reliant for a while too, then in 2005 i bought a maxiglide, and NEVER looked back. That ish is amazing!!! it straightens out every single nappy bit of my hair and leaves it bone straight, so I don't need to relax to be straight anymore. And it also helped me save money by not going to the salon as much. I still love my stylist, and will go for color etc... but I'm so happy I can straighten on my own now. That maxiglide is like magic. You can check the results on my blog or on the youtube channel. That tool is my new babydaddy.

Thanks for starting this thread! I have been so concerned about hair - for me and my wedding party - I've been trying to figure out how much I need to save up just to fly in my stylist from Memphis. (Mind you, I live in California now, but she is incredible.) Even though my resort has a salon that's gotten good reviews, I'm still not sold on using them for "chocolate hair."

I'm at a total loss about the hair thing because Mexico in June is HOT, HUMID, and my FI is begging me not to put tracks in my hair. I've been considering getting a weave since I recently got back in the gym to lose 60lbs. I'll be back to put up posts once I print all eleven pages that I've missed on this thread so I won't be redundant about something already addressed. BDW makes for great reading on the treadmill!

Ladies,

I'm still on the fence. I don't know what to do. Weave or Lace front. Lace front or weave. I moved to Baltimore for my residency and don't know anyone in town to do it. Maybe a lace front would be the better option because of how I want to wear my hair. I have length to it, it's about bra strap give or take after a flat iron- but it's not relaxed and that carribean humidity is NOT going to support the sleek style I want. I need to hurry up and make a flippin decision. The clock is ticking.

For those that have experience with lace fronts- where all did you get yours? Was application easy to learn to do?

Here's a pic of how I want my hair.

Nikki
