oh, that sucks! i would be going crazy without mine! i'll be without my e-ring while it's getting dipped (it's white gold) before the wedding. gotta get it polished up to match the band! i'm debating about having the two rings soldered together. i'm guessing that'll have to wait until after we get back, but that means being without them AGAIN! we'll see what we can do.

is everyone getting their rings soldered together, or leaving them loose? anyone engraving wedding bands?

Wow a lot to catch up on!!

Karen - Wow what a d-bag... I would have TOLD her off! Anyways, it's probably better you didn't but I'd definitely put her in her place to know that she needs to respect you and can't speak to you like that especilly since it wasn't even you're fault!

We're all so close to our weddings and extra on edge and emotional so one more week and then you're done! Just keep picturing yourself on the beach with a cocktail... ahhh! Good luck with your final fitting today!

Jenny - That's ridiculous! Can't they see that you will be gone and respect thathuh.gif People sometimes I swear...

I hope you ladies are all doing well, I'm literally taking things one day at a time and doing what I can each day and trying not to freak out. So far it's working alright... knock on wood!

Karen, changing your last name is totally a personal decision, and the fact that she half co-erced you into it is totally not cool. I am choosing to keep my last name, but would be happy to be referred to by my husband to-be's last name! I am sorry this woman made you sad and Mad sad.gif

I love how your program has more creative license for how you do your thesis! Implementing a reading program gives back and everyone benefits from it! I know it will go well for you. My topic asks whether young adults (b/w 18-30) have unmet health needs (as they are least likely to access health care, and pick up bad habits i.e. drinking, bad diet etc., that they carry on later in life during these years).

I am currently impatiently waiting for the last of the wedding related stuff (table runners, and a hair flower) I ordered to arrive (why won't it get here alreadyhuh.gif). 9 days to go!!

I forgot to mention this... Karen, I fully planned to not take my FH's last name especially because I don't like it :) No offense, I just don't.

We've gotten into many an arguement about this, FI is super old fashioned and was REALLY hurt and offended that our children (what children?!) won't be carrying on his name... anyways, my plan was to get married and let people call me what they want and not legally change my last name but I think I may have to. Only because I don't want to offend him, is this me being weak?

I've gotten rude responses to me not wanting to take his name from friends! "You HAVE to take his name" "why would you do that to him?" WOW, I had no idea we were back in the times where woman were not created equal or independant to chose as they please.

Anyways... I'm on the fence at this point, even got a card in the mail yesterday to "Mr. & Mrs. (FI's last name) and I handed it to him and said, "here for you and your Mrs. (blank) whoever she may be" he just laughed.

Does anyone feel this weird, we sould like his parents sorta feeling? I can't shake it.

this is such a personal thing and i'm so surprised that people are interfering with your decision! that's just really rude. though i would take your FI's thoughts into consideration, it really comes down to what YOU want to do!

you mentioned that FI is rather traditional, so i'm guessing this won't be an option, but has he considered taking your last name?

another option to consider is to just have both of you take a new name! a combination of your current last names or a family name or a random name you could both agree on. either way, you would have the same last name as each other but you wouldn't have to take a name you hate!

just a thought.

I know it really is no one else's business! So annoying, it's mostly his BM that thinks I'm a terrible person for wanting to keep my name.

FI would NEVER take my last name or a different or new name, no way, I kinda want to ask him to see how he reacts because that would be amusing :)

Amy, i agree that its such a personal decision. You do what you feel what is right. Times are changing and some people are still old fashioned.

I think I will take FI's last name because I want our children to have the same last name and I am still thinking about hyphenating my last name. Maybe you should give hyphenating a thought?

i still have my ex's name so i am beyond excited to take the new hubby's name!

i know that all my friends really like having the same name as their kids (or wish that they did). but beyond that, there's no real reason to have to match. the hypenating thing might be your best bet!

So back to the spray tan thing. Be sure you don't let them talk you into the darker shade. I had a friend just get the airbrushed tan on and she looked awful. She said the 1st coat looked great and then the girl talked her into a second coat for the darker color. It has taken weeks for the spots and streaks to go away and she was pretty orange. My spray tans only look good for about 3 days in prior experience. I am going to use at home self tanner so I can control it and fix any problems while I am down there (it is also great for fixing weird tan lines or missed sunscreen spots). I will be in Mexico for 6 days before the wedding so there is no use getting a spray tan before I leave.

Normally I would get in a tanning bed for an important event but I have spent the last 9 months and a crap load of money working with a dermatologist to fix my sun damage. I have spent way too much money to revert my skin back!
