The address is simply xcaretweddings dot com.

For other brides, there is also a cute little church in the town of Puerto Morelos called Iglesia de San Jose!

The WC really does nothing when it comes to booking the chapel at the Gran Caribe. Here is the email to the church itself. Monica has been really great at answering our questions. [email protected]

Hope this helps!

Girls there is also a chapel at the Valentin Imperial. We visitied in December and it's just so different but gorgeous. I would have definitely gone that route if they accepted children.

Does any one know of a local english speaking priest in the area?

We might be getting married at LaSalle Chapel (closer to Cancun) but we need a priest that speaks English.

Thanks!!

Ana

There is also a chapel shared by the Iberostar properties. It seats about 60 people. We are having our wedding at the Iberstar Paraiso Lindo and doing our ceremony there.

Here is a youtube link of someone who shot a video of it:

Love when I can find a video because there's only so much you can tell from a picture, ya know?

Totally off topic, but can anyone tell me where we start with the Catholic Church requirements? I know we have to do pre-Cana here and have our local priest send some sort of letter to the priest in Mexico, but that's about all I know. offtopic.gif

Hi all,

I too am having a catholic ceremony at Moon Palace on 2nd June in the Immaculate conception gazebo, the Priest Fr. Benedict has good written English so I think his English should be fine, he will be reading from a standard script so hopefully wont be too bad! I actually got a bit caught out as I’m from the UK I didn’t receive a contract so when the package information arrived it was only then I saw that catholic weddings in Mexico aren’t legal. This caught me by complete surprise – seen as thou Mexico is predominately catholic! Apparently most Mexicans have a big white catholic wedding (purely symbolic) and then shoot off to the civic offices to have a quick legal wedding before heading to the reception.

To get married in a catholic chapel you have to either get married civically before and then present your wedding certificate or sometimes they let you do it when you get home.

As I only found this out 6 weeks before we were due to fly out we have managed to work with the WC so that we have a civil wedding with the justice of the peace to get the legal bit out of the way then pay the extra 350 usd for a priest to be present and finish off with a blessing etc.

Before the priest in Mexico approved our wedding we needed to show him paperwork which stated we had completed our marriage classes here in the UK and then have our UK priest complete paperwork (freedom to marry / understand the faith / open to children and bringing them up as catholic) to sent to the diocese in UK to approve our marriage. This was then posted onto the diocese in Mexico. They like it if you have both been baptised and confirmed (i'm only baptised but H2B is both)

A bit long winded! Hope this helps some one you. BTW The Dreams Tulum chapel looks beautiful, it was my second choice after moon palace but I was a bit concerned by no air con. MP is child friendly for the ceremony too.

Hello, I hope you still log on, I noticed your coment was from over a year ago!! But you wedding was just a couple of months... how was ithuh.gif

I would like some information on the chapel of Nuestra Senora Del Carmen in Playa. Is it expensive? About how many people can fit? Did you have to find the priest for the ceremony or did they provide him?

Thank you so much!!!

It's not that expensive. You have to put a downpayment when you reserve which is half the amount and pay the rest when you are there. I also had to pay the priest because he wasn't from that church. I found him. He just accepted a donation so I gave him $250US.

I had 80 people and we fit perfect. 2 columns and 10 rows in each column, with 4 people in each row.

Message me if you want more deets.
