Definitely have to get it altered a bit, but I'm still losing weight (15 pounds down...another 15 or so to go!) so I'm going to wait until September or so to get it altered.

I, too, am freaking out about prices. Our "rack rates" right now are about $1750 per person for 7 nights, without flights. Direct flights are about $500 pp, so we're looking at $2250 per person...eek!!! I was hoping to keep it UNDER $1700 with flight for 7 nights, so we'll see. My TA says the specials should come out in summer, and at that point we can lock in the lower rates. Right now we have 8 booked including FI and I; expecting at least 10 more.

Other than that, I don't have anything done! I'm totally wanting a super laid back wedding. I'm not going to be doing center-pieces, or a wedding cake, or anything like that. Pretty much just the wedding ceremony and private dinner, then it's party time!!
Love your dress v 'beach' in the best sense of the word - know what you mean about the final fitting i ideally have 10lb to lose to ensure i am back down to my 'ideal' weight so am going to delay the last fitting.
I too want a v laid back wedding; the cake is included in our package but we arent having any centre pieces. Just going to be a good 'ole knees up afterwards. We have 18 inc FI & I.

Hello Ladies :) Great thread, I am getting married January 20th at the Barcelo Maya Palace , Riviera Maya. So far, all I have done is ordered my dress, and reserved the date at the Palace. I am just starting to work with the location I have chosen for my at home reception.

I too am waiting anxiously for rates ...I dont want to shock my guests either with 2K+ for a week!! I told them I was hoping for no more than 1500 for them to pay ..So we will see.

Does this make sense? It's Monday, and I'm a bit smile27.gif ya know??
LOL yea that makes sense. Thanks for the tip cheesy.gif Our TA said the same thing about price matching. We r going through Beach Bum Vacation and they r great if anyone here is lolling for a TA.

I decided I'm going to give it until we get back from our vacation and then send the STD out. The FI and I leave tomorrow for a little trip to San Fran-- can't wait!! It'll be a nice little break from work (and wedding planning LOL)

That's the same thing I've told my guests...my FI and I have capped pricing at $1500. If it ends up being more then we'll have to change resorts sad.gif

Hey, welcome along - the more the merrier. Look forward to sharing your plans along the way.

I really feel for all of you regarding the pricing - maybe thats one thing we got right here in the UK - brochure comes out 16 months before hand and the price in the brochures is the one you pay!

Lets us know how you get on.

I recieved my "rack rate" quotes from my TA today. We are actually considering chaning the date to the frist week of Dec. Prices are much more reasonable! I am just going to roll with it and hope that the prices go down. I know am trying to decide between Secrets Moroma and El Dorado. My TA says that El Dorado is super easy to work w/ and is great with weddings. After I finally decide I can't wait to order those cute boarding pass save the dates!

I am a January 2011 bride also! I have been getting so anxious waiting for room rates. My TA has us and some guests booked but don't know how much it will be. We have already booked flights. We are getting married at Real Gran Porto. The resort told me yesterday the prices will be out within the next few days...I have been checking their site 2x a day! lol But I think a lot of my guests are waiting to book until they have a price, which makes sense.

Haha I do the same thing! ! It's kind of like when you keep opening up your refrigerator hoping to find something different.

Have a great week, Ladies. I'll be in San Fran until Tuesday -- sure I'll have lots to catch up on :o)

Hello Fellow Jan 2011 brides!!

Congrats on the engagements and happy planning!!

We picked Jan more or less because of the pricing. Our summers are very hectic (beginning in April) so we knew it had to be Jan-March.

Our tirp is booked Jan 24-31, 2011 at the Royal Decameron, Panama.

Our wedding date is Jan 26, 2011 on the beach at 5pm (sunset type ceremony!)

I've got my dress (Essence of Australia-I haven't figured out how to download pics yet).

Looking at a couple dresses from Victoria Secret (the convertible dress in grape purple) for the bridesmaids.

Save the dates (DIY magnets) are made and sent out. Wedding website is done (but continually being updated)

My MOH is coming from Ottawa this weekend so I can't wait to show her my dress and go over other wedding stuff!!!

Hoping that time goes fast cause I'm vary anxious to get away and enjoy the sun with family and friends!!!

Cheers all
