11:00 am ceremony. Bad choice?

Recommended Posts

HELP?? LOL I'm doing it all!! Jenine hasnt even been on this board ha ha. With work she gets too stressed. She likes everything I decide, I dont even have to ask her!! I've had fun with it all. My son is getting married in Aug so I HOPE I get invited to help some with theirs. It will be a let down after spending 24/7 on this board. I saw on your links that you are dieting, thats prob the hair problem. I lost 35 lbs once and i had bald spots. MAKE SURE you eat enough protein and dont starve. Thats what did it to me.

Anyway, I wanted a wedding at 11AM also so that everyone would have time to enjoy the rest of their day. I figured anytime earlier would risk getting myself ready. Plus I'm sure my guest would like to sleep in after staying up late the night before.

We are having lunch (off-site) then when we return to resort the rest of their time is all theirs!!! I may have optional excursions planned but for the most part everyone can enjoy their vacation.

Think about that long and hard....to me, it seems odd. 11am ceremony will be done before noon, at which point your guests would be ready for lunch - but you mentioned you dont have anything going on until dinner....PLUS, the bride will be all done up for the ceremony - and then go to the beach/poolhuh.gif? then get ready again for the reception? its confusing to me....3 is the high sun time, so if the issue is that she just wants to pop out of bed and get married rather than have the anticipation of all day (i know for myself that waiting till 6pm is going to feel like 4,984 days that morning) then schedule her some events to keep her occupied before a later ceremony! Good luck!!!

Mine was at 3:30... by the time we all got ready, took some girls/guys photos & had a snack, it was already time to go! I started hair at 9am then make up and wasn't back in my room till after 11 (more like 11:45). But if its really what she want you'll make it work!

What a great mom! I wish my mom was like you. I could use the help! I am getting married on April 10th at the Dreams Riviera Cancun and was only given 11am and 3pm as my options. Personally I felt 11am was early due to getting ready and such and wanted to do more of an evening dinner so I chose the 3pm time slot. I feel like it will probably be really hot at both times (mid 80's). I just checked weather.com and currently at this moment which is close to 11am there it is 80degrees. I spoke to other brides who were only given a choice of 11am so this could be what happened with her. The wedding will be beautiful either way but if you have a lot of guests I think the fans are an excellent idea. I should look for some of those.

Is there any way you can push the time back? imarried in Jamaica at 2.00 many years ago and after cutting the cake pictures etc it was just another day down on the beach.I think if you could push the time back you could do a girly breakfast or group breakfast lie in the sun for a while and the day would flow.I didnt even wear my dress in the evening. What was i thinking !!!!!!!!!

This time im going for 4.00/4.30 lol

Well, fact is its pretty much always HOT in mexico in the Spring and Summer. I'd say out of 1000+ beach weddings here, Sol & I have seen just about everything. We even dedicated a section on our blog with links to sunset calendars to showcase our recommendations on ceremony start time, etc.

Check out our Seasonal Guide here.

At this point, the plan is pretty solid and I think you should just enjoy the early ceremony and go with the flow. Whats the worst that could happen? Folks forced to sit on the beach with an amazing view and watch a beautiful ceremonyhuh.gif 10-15 minutes max for this and I wouldnt worry too much.

Hope you have a happy wedding!

Matt

I'm getting married at 11:00 by choice. Of course I'm not having a very big ceremony, just a few friends and very low key. We'll have the ceremony (lasts like 15 minutes so how horrific can it be even if it is a little toasty?) then have a brunch and cake at one of the restaurants and spend the afternoon by the pool or on the beach. We're not having a reception but we'll probably all have dinner together that evening. I've seen lots of beautiful wedding photos at ALL times of the day so I think the wedding planner's previous post might be a little harsh.

Jenine is a lucky girl to have a mom like you planning everything!!!
My BFF also lost hair due to weight loss - Have you tried Biotin to get it back? It's helped her a lot.

My ceremony is at 4pm (in Jamaica)
I would have preferred a little later, even, but as Matt said, it's going to be hot anyway.
But like the other girls were saying, she's going to spend all that time getting ready to look beautiful for her ceremony, then get undressed and put on a bathing suit and sweat at the pool, then get redressed for dinner? But if you're not planning a big reception with her wearing her dress then it's not a big deal.

most important thing is that your daughter is going to have a beautiful wedding in a beautiful place, no matter what time - everything else will work itself out.

Thanks to everyone for the much appreciated advice! After talking to Jenine and the WC we are going to stick with the 11:00. This is her 2nd wedding and she is very relaxed about it. We only have 16 guests. Her BFF is an awesome hairdresser and she will be with us, so we dont have to do the salon thing. She has a white swim suit and a veil for the pool that day. She said she just didnt want everyone to have to go in early to get ready etc...we are doing the ceremony 1st thing and then partying it up the rest of the day. Our WC said she has done 11:00 am plenty of times and it was fine. She said 6:00 is the preferred, but some have chosen 11:00am. ALSO there arent any more weddings that day so we can switch it if we want to. I'm gonna go out there the day before and just see if it's horrible. Last night I had dinner with some girls, and guess what? One of them got marrid in Jamaica at 11:00 am!! LOL She said it was great because the whole day felt like a party. Thats what we like!! P A R T Y!!

The day will go without a hitch (except your daughter getting hitched :)

I had a few more thoughts to share about early ceremonies:
Regarding the look of the photos... IF your heart desires the TRUE BLUE colors that we have here from the ocean in the Riviera Maya, ideally its better to shoot the ocean earlier or mid day, for these true colors to come out.....so this will be a plus! The only compromise is that the light is harsher and tends to be more contrasty and its tough to not wear shades.... but shades are COOL :)

I shot this wedding at 1pm. They actually had a ceremony under a small palapa, so they were in the shade. We did a TTD just following the short ceremony. Notice how BLUE the sky is, along with the water...

Christi and Scott - Photos by Matt - Excellence Riviera

LOVE the colors of mid day weddings. We still recommend the late afternoon ceremony start times if a reception is planned...Its just easier but as folks point out in this thread, there are perfect exceptions to every situation!

Saludos y VIVA Mexico...happy easter weekend too!
