i actually make this mixture of chili poweder, salt, with some lemon lime and dip pineapple or sour plums in it...i thought it was an asian thing because in vietnam they eat pineapples and guavas like that but when i was in mexico they have something similiar.
Ditto and yes! Cut an orange in half and put the chile powder with salt on it... on a mango... shredded carrots or cucumbers, add some lemon, limes here I guess.

My co-worker from India does something very similar as well :)

There is something like the sour plums, but they are apricots. The concoction is called "Chamoy".

Tammy I have a question for you since we're talking food, as a kid I spent a lot of time at a friends's house where her mom (Vietnamese) would make us avocado & condensed milk as a sweet treat. Is that a Vietnamese thing or was that just something they did? It was pretty yummy, I think I'll make one this weekend for old time sake :o)

I know what you mean... We eat white corn on the cob (on a stick) with a bit lemon, mayo, white crumbly cheese and top it off with chile powder, from the local street vendors. They also do the same mixture off the cob but the corn is in a broth, yummy! My FI actually tried it! He liked it once the mayo was dissolved in the broth.

Ann, you added the wine. That's dinner to me :)

We're food twins, lol! Everyday the corn guy comes to our street and rings his bell and when I'm home I always get corn. It's also mayo, lime, chile, & usually parmesan cheese. Okay now I'm thinking about street food...mmm.

We have a tamale lady who comes to our building & the fruit guy too...he sells the fruit with chili & limon...fresh coconuts, mango, papaya, watermelon, you name it. And then there's the taco truck . . . .
