Thought I'd give you all an update on that.
Is that near the gazebo by the Seaside Grill? Do you think it will take away from the privacy of that gazebo? Maybe it will be a free option for a covered outdoor reception rather than having to rent out the Seaside Grill. If so, fingers crossed that it is done by November;-)

When you went for your site visit, could you possibly tell me some information on what the "relaxed pool" looks like? I've read some things on this site, but still do not have a good feel for what/where that pool is. Our reception is going to be at the relaxed pool, so I want to make sure there is going to be enough lighting for a 6p-9p reception. And is it terribly far from the Bar? At our receptions, how do we get our drinks? Are there waiters that go to the bar for us?
Hi AchiCAp0547
I haven't done a site visit, but thought I would let you know that the "relaxed pool" is the adult pool. Starlitk had her reception there. Maybe you could check out that review.

Hey all. I will most likely do my reception at one of the pools. I am trying to plan dinner centerpieces and am thinking of doing paper lanterns surrounded by flower petals. Does anyone know if the pools are protected any from the wind or do you think these items might blow away?

Okay, I will get him a dinner too. Where are you sitting him?
You know, I haven't even thought about where I'm sitting anyone yet. I think I'm just going to go with the flow in terms of the seating chart. I'm only having 30 or so guests so I'm just going to let everyone sit wherever they like and hope it works out!

Hey thanks for the info... I've read all of the posts on this dreams tulum thread (nerd I know, I was bored a couple of days lol), but there is SO much information, it gets confusing! It does look a bit dark...

I did hear that it's a bit windy- on page 338 of the forum, jmb0902 has a picture where she had to put a plate over her hurricane glass because the wind kept blowing out the candle.

So I'm still thinking of ideas for lighting... this website has pretty cheap LED lights, I may need to buy them and figure something out- Cheap LED Party 'Floralytes' $1.34 Wholesale LED Submersible Lights

I can picture the day I get married there is no wind... and I purchased these things for nothing lol. I guess better safe than sorry right?

I feel like I should know this already but can somebody clarify the room categories for me? When trying to book on the hotel website or through a travel website such as orbitz they do not call the rooms Dreams suites or hacienda rooms. I assume the cheapest room a "Deluxe Garden view" would be a hacienda room, but then the next cheapest room is a "Jr. Suite Garden view" and then what is a "preferred" room b/c those seem to come in both dreams and hacienda. Also, do all the rooms have a/c? I know they recently remodeled does anyone know which rooms they did and how you can get one of those? Thanks in advance!

There are pics of the relaxed pool and receptions and a map of the resort on page 2 which should help you.

All the rooms have AC (I was concerned about this too!)

I was just reading on Orbitz for you and I see that all the rooms that have the word "preferred" say "comtemporary decoration" and all the others that don't have preferred say "hacienda" so I think you should go by that, i.e. sounds like the "preferred" are the new rooms (Dreams) and that the other ones are the old rooms.

Keep in mind that with the old rooms, there are all the categories (garden view, ocean view, and honeymoon suite. If you look at the map you can see that some of them are near the beach near the 2nd wedding gazebo) and with the new rooms too.

We're three months out from the wedding (yay!) and some questions have come up that I'm hoping the already-married ladies can answer for me.

1) is the "aisle" sand for in the processional area packed or soft? Also, is it too hot to walk on with bare feet? (our ceremony is at 3pm in June)

2) what kind/brand of products do the make-up artists use? I'm still on the fence about having my face done in the salon vs. doing my own makeup.

3) does anyone know if the makeup artists will do a false eylash application?

thanks all :)

The relaxed pool is sort of between the sugar reef bar and El Patio. This is a link to the resort map: Dreams Tulum Resorts & Spas: Resort Map
The relaxation pool is the long rectangle pool toward the bottom of the map. I recall Aurora saying that the reception dinners are typically set up at the end closest to El Patio. There are no lights there so you can either rent lighting from them or if you bring lanterns, they can also help you set up. I'm assuming that there are waiters that will bring guests drinks but I haven't asked. Hope this helps.

On our site visit in Feb we saw them building the wooden deck as well. They are for private dinners and are meant to fit couples so it's not quite large enough for a reception. The wooden deck is set above the beach so I don't think it will be a private issue since it's meant for dinners and shouldn't be occupied during wedding ceremony times. You may want to confirm with Aurora or your WC.
