Can anyone that has physically seen these locations shed some light? We are expecting approx 50 guests. Also if I was to choose to have the cermemony at the aqueduct and pay the $2500 fee how many hours is the rental for? Would our reception be there also? any help would be great. What is everyone else choosing for their reception menu? I am thinking about going with the food stations but not sure yet.
terri1225 - I was originally considering the pool deck, after seeing it. I chose the other wedding Gazebo, it's a bit more private. I was mostly worried about noise from below the deck (it's over the buffet restaurant). The water park is really beautiful and private as well. I'm not sure about the aqueduct, though I do remember that there is no electricity there, and I didn't pick it due to my need to dance!
as for menu I went with stations with a couple appetizers, salad and consumption bar. Though, honestly i'm only saving a dollar or so per person over the welcome receptions...so now I may change that.
Good Luck!

Terri1225: I've visited the resort and agree with Tauristar. If you want an outside location for your reception, the East Gazebo is the best choice, it's beautiful and provides the most privacy (that you can get outside at a popular resort). That's actually where I'm having my ceremony.

To everyone: I was initially planning a reception for about 70 people in one of the ballrooms and was so frustrated at the cost of everything. I don't mind paying the money but I didn't feel like I was getting much for it, it seems like it was all going to fees and taxes. So I've decided to go another route. I'm now working with Jamaica Elegant Weddings (Dawn) to plan my cocktail hour and reception off site. So far my experience has been wonderful. I was able to do with Dawn in 2 weeks what I have not been able to accomplish with RHR in months. The personal attention is wonderful and the prices are so much better (ie: I went from $900 for 3 hours of DJ time to $550 for 5 hours of DJ time). I can go on and on and I'll tell you more if you're interested. My point is, if you're happy and things are working out at RHR stick with them, but if you're in need of another option, I highly recommend Jamaica Elegant Weddings.

Mrs Reed 2 be-Please go on. I am really not pleased with the money that has to be spent to rent out locations for the reception plus all the added overpriced items such as $700 for the steel pan band for an hour. I actually contacted Tropical Weddings Jamaica regarding off site options. Please tell me as much as possible about Jamaica Elegant Weddings. Where is your cocktail hour and reception going to held and approx how much are your costs going to be?

I would also love to hear some more info about Jamaica Elegant Weddings. Do you know any of their packages prices? Do they charge a fee for their services in addition to the package prices? I'm just trying to figure out if its worth the cost to hire a WC outside of one that a resort might offer. Do you know what locations they offer for receptions? Thanks for any info you can share!! :)

Hey everyone... long time, no talk on here! I did want to shed some insight.

@MrsReed 2 b- I'm glad you were able to find a place off site for you and your guests. I told Yolandi I was having my reception off site too and she asked me where. I don't really think that matters. What matters is making their prices more reasonable so people don't have to look elsewhere, lol.

@tauristar- I also got a quote from Grande Garden. I think I might be going with them since they're less expensive than Tai Flora.

@Everyone: I believe the best advice I could give brides thinking of planning a wedding at RHR would be to be EXTREMELY specific when asking questions. Make sure you know about site fees, set up fees (yes, they're two different things), bar fees, everything!

Don't assume that just because a reception site is on the property, that it's free to hold the reception there. I believe Sugar Mill Fall (the waterpark) is like $2500 for a set up fee. That's not including the cost for a bar, service, etc. Make sure you ask prices for everything.

I just asked about having speakers for the ceremony and was told it's like $193 plus a technician fee... Technician fee? You mean there's a cost to literally plug the speakers in?? Like I said, question everything!

terr1225 - I emailed you the two pics I could find. I hope that helps

pandabride6 - I'm doing the PA system and speakers, and I didn't have a technician fee...I'll let you know if that comes up for me...no way I'm paying for that!

I'd love to hear more about Jamaica Elegant weddings, I'm looking for a place to do a rehearsal dinner. Oh and I've been working with Grande Garden on flowers all week, they are really easy to deal with.

I am getting married there on May 8th of this year and just signed my contract a few weeks ago. I too got the PA system with speakers and had to pay a technician fee of $50...I believe the technician will be the one to start and stop the music when needed during the ceremony. We chose the West Gazebo to have our ceremony because of the privacy and it overlooking the ocean. We are also having a cocktail reception in the same location. It actually saved a little bit of money, since all we had to pay was a set up fee of $500 instead of having to pay more to choose a separate location for the reception. If you have any questions you would like to ask me, I will be more than happy to assist with anything I know. Good luck to all you ladies with the planning and Congratulations!
