WELCOME!!

I'm on a budget too!

Our wedding was supposed to be this July 1,2010, but we bought a house and the costs are just too much to add a wedding to it, so we're going for next year, same date.

I think the key is setting a budget and sticking to it!

People told us to do that with the house and the furniture, but we didn't and now we are spending a lot of money!!! the house looks how we want it to, though, so i guess that's a good thing!

okay, back to weddings! just be particular about what YOU and your FI want. it;s your day.

@Diva, I wouldn't do the DIY photos. I mean they could turn out so nice, but then they could turn out really bad. . . and you would be sad about your wedding pics.

Do some research on photgos. I was going to go the DIY route until I saw some pics!! photogs like Del Sol, Sun Gold, Elizabeth Medina, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Stacey (forgot the last name) take REALLY great photos!! You will want to FIND money to hire those people!!!

OK OK, I guess I will try to conjure up some money from somewhere to get some more photos. Not all that hype about paying extra for TTD, but definitely otherwise. So is the 24 we get free not enough? I am sure they will take more shots and then we pick the ones we like for the ones they print. I will figure all of this out as time gets closer. My FI is just a REAL stickler on the budget and I am having a hard time getting him to flex

At first my FI wasn't thrilled when I wanted to increase our initial photog budget. So I did my research. I found several photogs including some in the US( I was thinking about bring someone) and some on the island. We sat down and we looked at all of the choices and samples of their work, without looking at the price tag. When he selected the one he liked and saw that we would have to pay more he realized that it was worth it. I also gave him an analogy. Would he rent a toyota for a week if he could drive his dream car for two days. He chose the later. My point was should we have a mediocre photographer for the whole day or an amazing one for less time? He got the point.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I chose Mexico because it was the cheapest destination I could find and I searched on different sites for resorts that met a specific price point I wanted to keep for my guests which determined where my wedding wold be held.
