ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi LynnieS,

Would you mind pm me the a la carte checklist and pricing as well. I think I'm going to do the same thing with choosing the classic package and upgrading things as we want them!

I have read that a number of you have opted to do a cheaper wedding package like the classic or the eternal romance then just added on from there. I am highly considering this also b/c when i look at the luxury package it has alot of things we really dont need. So the a la carte list I have is pretty basic. Can any of you PM me with a complete a la carte wedding list with all the fees?

For example, if we decide to go with the eternal package it incl. a semi private reception for up to 30 guests, if we upgrade to a private reception it is an additional $25 per real guest for all 30 people or just guests beyond the 30?

Also, we are doing a symbolic ceremony, will they allow my FI's brother who is licensed in the states to marry, to lead the ceremony and waive there fee for the minister??

And i know several of you have asked this but I just want to clarify, our ceremony is on a Sat. at 2 p.m. will the weekend fee be waived even if our reception is from 4-7 p.m. Is that fee only charged if the "ceremony" is after 4p.m.?

One last question I promise :) I am not having a good time deciding on a photog. If I had an endless budget, it would be so easy. I will be charged $400 outside vendor fee so with this is mind, most that I have found put me over what I can spend. I am not a huge fan of the resort photog so I would like to use someone in addition for at least the ceremony and pics after. The one I have found charges $1500 plus that fee so now we are close to 2K which is really pushing it. Does anyone have some suggestions of good photogs that are around 1,000 or less that you really like??

Thank you all for your help!!
I ended up going with the Luxury package, because when I booked I thought oh how nice that we get all this stuff, it will definitely be worth it. That isn't the case now that the date is getting closer. I ended up realizing that the flowers are too pricey for the girls, so I went with Real Touch flowers instead. Which meant my bouquet at the resort is a toss bouquet now. I plan to get fake nails becuase mine are not long, so the manicure is worthless. The face saver treatment for the FI I am not doing because I heard way too many "they cut my FI face the day before the wedding" stories. There were other things on there as well that I could do without. I wish I would have been smarter and done it the way you are talking about! Just some advice from the other end!

We are also going with the Classic and upgrading. The Luxury just has too many things that we won't need. We are expecting about 60 people and we are upgrading to hot/cold hors d'oeuvres & open bar during cocktail hour (an extra $15 pp) and also doing a private dinner reception ($25 pp). We're also getting a guitarist for cocktail hour and DJ and photographer from the resort. Plus I'm getting hair/makeup there. With all the extras we're getting...it's still going to be about $1,200 less than Luxury.

I attached the most recent price list :)

I have a chair question....I have seen lots of pics of covered chairs, folding chairs and chivari chairs online for diff. weddings. Does anyone know what type of chairs are included and if any of them cost extra?? My sis is a wedding/event planner and really wants me to insist on Chivari Chairs, hehe.

Correct, this was confirmed to me yesterday by Angie. I'm guessing because the legal one is just that, and symbolic has more of the religious and traditional aspects to it.

Can you ask Angie if we can add a reading to it? My WC says yes but she's new so I dunno if she got the info right. I thought we weren't supposed to do anything to the legal ceremony.

BTW, I'm getting married in November now (day before Thanksgiving); after almost changing resorts, and going over pricing, we decided to stay. November was almost HALF the accomodations/flight cost of January, and although my original date of Jan 1 would have been cool, we decided this would make it possible for some of our guests who were on the fence. I'm also very glad that response from WC has improved 200 % :-).
Omg thats great to hear! Well November is the perfect month hair wise lol There is no humidity at night and it cools down to 60 - 70 and its perfect weather. We were originally going to do New Years Eve but changed to November for the same reason because the price difference was so huge.

So, I am confused...which is not hard these days! huh02.gif For those of you that were larger wedding groups, you don't need to pick the package that matches the size of your wedding most closely? And if that is the case, do you pay the fee listed for the pp above and beyond your package number and THEN pay the 1700 or 1900 for the private reception? Am I getting this right?

I am thinking that we could be as large as 75 and just want to try and get the estimated costs locked down as best as we can.

Thanks you guys you have been invaluable on the planning here!

Hi our book is going to be anywhere between 70 and 100. When I did the math based on such a large group the ultimate luxury made sense. That package includes 50 guests and than yes after that you pay for each one. $30 for resort guests $60 for non resort.

Not sure where the 1700 or 1900 fee is coming from? Before it was $8200 for the ultimate luxury with the 50 people and that included a bunch of stuff. It is really worth it to sit down and price the a la carte versus a package and see for what you want which makes more sense.

Hope this did not confuse you more lol
