Dreams Punta Cana Wedding Review - Jan 25, 2010

Recommended Posts

Thank you for the information, Jocy! We were originally leaning towards the Ultimate package, but it had things in it that we didn't really want or need. From what I was reading though all the girls' posts, they aren't very accomodating to changing or modifying anything.

It makes sense to go the same route you did, so I really appreciate your candidness about everything. I feel like if I ask the WC she'll just steer me towards the most expensive package anyway!

I just re-read your review and noticed you've answered my questions in there, so I totally apologize for making you repeat yourself :-( I was so excited to read your review, I don't think I processed anything hahaha

Who organized your cigar roller? And how much was he? I'd looooove to surprise the hubs with one!

cristinimartini - the WC organized the cigar roller. We just told her in our meeting a few days before the wedding that we wanted one there and it was $200 for 1hr.

A word of advice about the cigar roller. It's basically a guy who sits at a table with DR cigars that he hands out and cuban cigars that he trys to sell. We weren't to impressed that he was trying to sell anything at our wedding!! And i think the general consensus was the DR cigars were just OK....the Cubans were excellent. So my advice would be to buy Cubans in advance and give them to the men as favors. They have people selling them on the resort on Wed / Sat evenings i believe. I just thought the cigar roller meant he would roll them fresh...they were already rolled. Does that make sense? That being said, our guests loved it and said they'd never seen that before which is always a nice compliment!

But totally up to you - of course, it's your wedding!!

HTH, x

We are also planning to have our wedding at this reosrt December 2011.

Is this resort kid friendly? We have our flowers girls and ring bearer all under the age of 6. We want to ensure that the resort we choose has activities for kids.

We had 4 kids with our group 4-10yrs. They have the explorers club which will even keep the kids til 10 at night. Our kids really liked it. They have tons of activities for them and different themes/parties/events each day...

That's exactly what I needed to hear! My hubby LOVES cuban cigars, but I thought a hand-rolled one would be awesome to see and then smoke...but you're right about trying to sell them at your wedding. No thanks!! I thought the same as you...that they'd be hand-rolled fresh.

We're arriving on Wednesday, so maybe I'll distract him for a little bit and buy him a box instead of having the vendor at our wedding.

Thanks again for the info!

How soon before your wedding did the WC contact you about final arrangements...or did you have to do all the asking...

cristinimartini - we arrived on a Wed and our meeting with the WC was on Fri morning for our Mon wedding.

She didn't ask any questions about details etc until that meeting 3 days before the wedding. I did however just email her stuff when i made up my mind about it...like reserving which terrace i wanted and all that kind of stuff and she had it all nicely organized in her little file!

Your review answered every question I had about Dreams!! Thanks so much! I'm second guessing my choice to have my wedding at Majestic Colonial because they charger for every little thing. To have an open bar would cost me $4000 for 40 people there. Open bar was included with your package right?
