I am feeling the same way about the cost of the restaurant. I have four teenagers that I am paying to come for the week. Just for the all inclusive vacations I am over 8,000.00 The only reason I was planing on booking the entire SSG was to be able to play music on an ipod dock. If we don't book the entire restaurant, we can't have music. Unless we wait until the disco opens at 11:00. If anyone knows of anyway around the music, I would be happy to just have a couple of tables at the restaurant. I was also thinking... with only 24 people coming, to have such a private reception, with music and dancing it will be kind of lame because they aren't all going to be dancing at the same time.
We are also having a reception in the summer when we are home. I am thinking we don`t even need to do the first dance etc. at the resort. I am running out of time and can`t seem to make a concrete decision.
If anyone has any bright ideas on this subject, please share. Thanks to everyone for all your great ideas.

I am having about 30 people going and we are going to have a private reception on the beach. It is a little more money than renting the entire SSG (with the Silver Menu), however for 24 people it should be a little less than renting the SSG. We are bringing down an iPod dock and hoping that it will be load enough on the beach (it is $250 to rent speakers). We are going to have our first dance and the father/daughter dance, but I am not to sure how much more dancing will happen. I am guessing we will just sit around the dinner tables, drinking and having a good time listening to music. We are able to have the beach until 11pm.

I hope that you come to a decision that fits you. Happy Planning!

I have been reading this thread for awhile now, and have gotten some great information for all of you! When I was reading about who everyone was going to have marry them, it got me thinking. My fiance and I will be married before we get there, and I was assuming that Tiara or someone else from the resort will do the ceremony, but then I heard about the pastor who is american and speaks perfect english. Does anyone know how well Tiara's english is? I would like to use her since it does not cost any extra, but if she is going to be hard to understand, I might want to pay extra for the pastor who speaks english. So has anyone talked with Tiara and knows if she is hard to understandhuh.gif

Liane, We are having 30 people come and we are having our dinner on the seaside grill deck and are having a DJ and dancing. I've heard of some people who do their first dance right after the ceremony at the gazebo if they're not having any dancing later on. Just an idea!

jlcoon1983, I talked to Tiara on the phone once and she definitely has a Spanish accent and was a little hard to understand, but does speak English very well. Nadia would be the best one to answer this since she met with her in person.

I'm new to this thread but thank you ladies for all of the information that I have read on here. I was talking to my travel agent and she suggested Dreams LaRamona and after reading all of the posts, I think I would love to have my wedding here. We are trying to book a location for May 28, 2011. We are expecting approximately 100 people based on the feedback I've received thus far; therefore, early planning is key.

If there are any May brides that can help me in this process please do. Our colors are lapis, pewter and cream. Our theme is pearls. We want to do elegant even though we're doing a DW.

The pictures look lovely!

Thanks for your feedback Jennifer, Dan and I decided to go ahead with our initial plan of booking the entire SSG. It just makes more sense. We are choosing the ipod dock and not a DJ just so we have control of the music. We have teenagers that will love to play DJ for the night. Our biggest saving is in the pictures as one of my closest friends is a photographer and is coming to our wedding.

Happy planning everyone.

Hi a lot of us have booked hdcphoto from punta cana, there is a thread on this site on them. They are by far the best I have seen and good value for money. I keep making the mistake of looking at other photographers websites just in case but still I think their pictures are the best. I think it just boils down to what you like but def give their website a look they make me cry everytime i see them :-)
