Turks And Caicos - Destination Wedding

I was wondering if anyone has ever planned a Turks and Caicos destination wedding?

If so, I was hoping to see some of your planning sites, blogs, pictures, vendors, wedding websites, inspirations etc. to give me an idea of venues and exact locations on the islands.

I am particular interested in locations on Providenciales and also if anyone has gotten married at the their Catholic church, as opposed to having a beach wedding. I think that may be one other option we are looking into.

Luckily, I have plenty of time to plan, but would love to know how your overall experience was, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'd love to see "real" weddings and how they were planned, as opposed to the weddings shown in resort brochures. At the moment we are leaning towards accomodations at Beaches resort and a reception at Bay Bistro.

Thanks!

Hi Glowbee and welcome!

Quite a few of us have TC weddings planned in all different venues so there is a load of info to be found. I am planning a TC wedding scheduled for Nov. 2010. Mine will be hosted at The Somerset on Grace Bay:

Beachfront Caribbean Resort Turks and Caicos - Beachfront Grace Bay Resort - Hotel

My photography will be done by Tropical Imaging:

My flowers will be done by Flowers by Environmental Arts, sorry don't have a website for them but do have contact numbers etc. let me know if you need them.

Sorry I can't offer any info with regards to the Catholic church on the island, we are having a beach ceremony. So far my blog consists of only my ideas and such, no pics of venues there but if you would like a pic of real weddings done at various venues I suggest you check out the Tropical Imaging website. They are the premiere photography group on the island and have shot in nearly all of the locations. For example to see pics of real weddings shot at Somerset here is the link:

However once on the site you can search practically any of the resorts and see a host of pics from different venues.

There is also a member on here by the name of Krys who is extremely helpful and can probably answer all of your questions and lives on the island!

Good luck!

As far as flowers go....I purchased my clay flowers off of etsy! And I would highly suggest it to all T&C brides! You can actually leave the island with them. You are not allowed to take flowers back into the US. And everyone wants to keep their bouquet. Now I have mine forever! I would highly HIGHLY suggest it! The woman I purchased mine from duplicated exactly what I wanted! I couldnt be happier and I get to see them everyday!

Those were clay flowershuh.gif I am impressed. I have no intentions of keeping my bouquet but I would have never guessed from your pics they were clay. Great job! I am considering getting my hair piece from etsy. They have great stuff. Ileana is doing our shoot and the first time I saw your pics was actually on their blog. Awesome pics! Just awesome!

Yes I know that flowers on the island can get quite pricey...hehehe, I am originally from the islands (not TC, another island). Most imported things are pricey. I have seen a few favors on etsy that looked promising for the arrival bags I want my guests to receive upon check in but was a bit weary of ordering cause I have never ordered from etsy before or even known anyone who has. I actually stumbled across the site by searching for organza hair pieces on google! I wasn't sure how up to board the sellers are....I guess I could just buy one small item and try it first. Curious I haven't gotten the quote back for my flowers yet, though I already know its going to a bit much since I need centerpieces and the whole shabang but how did you get the clay flowers there with out them being crushed?

Hi Glowbee!

Welcome to the forum!!! I began planning my wedding at the beginning of this year in Turks & Caicos and have everything booked and picked out other than my flowers and hair and makeup the day of!

After researching the amazing hotels on the island and speaking with the coordinators, etc. we chose Villa Renaissace to host our wedding ceremony! Most of my family and close friends will all be staying at suites there and it is an absolutely beautiful property!!

We are also using Tropical Imaging for our photography! Their blog just recently had a post involving a church wedding, and if you read through the archives there are other posts with church ceremonies, I am very certain there is at least on post with a Catholic ceremony!

We are using Diane with Island Harmony as our wedding coordinator, and she has been amazing! I highly recommend her, very organized and responds super quick: www.islandharmony.com

We are having our reception privately catered by Kissing Fish Catering Company, they are setting up a private dinner with open bar, and a beautiful bonfire a few feet from our ceremony! We are very excited! They also own/operate Bay Bistro, so contact Joan ([email protected]) and she will let you know what your options are and the pricing!

I am still debating about flowers, can't decide what I want yet. However I was quoted around $500 for bouquet of orchids, roses, and delphiums, very pricey, but yes, imported items are!

Let me know if you have any questions!!! Good luck planning!!!
