Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I just asked our WC, Karla. She was awesome. Set aside an area in the buffet for everyone to meet at 6 pm on the Sunday (we arrived in the evening on Saturday). It worked out perfect because everyone had been off exploring different areas of the resort during the day so it was nice to find out where other things were without having to do the search because someone else had. :-)

Hi everyone i just got back from gran bahia principe akumal and got married at akumal on jan 25. it was an amazing day- Eugenia the coordinator is incrediable she made the day compete with no stress and had everything organized, most definetly would recommend her!!!

FOR ALL THE BRIDES GETTING MARRIED THERE- Conrado (photographer)- we had booked him, he was a no show, no email or anything- word is that they are no longer allowed on the resort premises because he is no longer apart of that company anymore. he has to pay a fee to come onto the resort to take your photos and then will charge you that!!! EVERYONE PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT!!! it was a fast fix, Eugenia had a photographer to my room in 5 minutes- i suggest him, the photos were more than perfect and would recommend the photographer at the resort to anyone. other than that most incrediable day of my life. wishing everyone the best

Great! Thanks Kiera. We have Karla for our WC as well. Did you ask her in an email ahead of time or in person once you got there?

Got yet another question for you ladies... how did you handle communicating with all your guests while on the resort? I hear that it's so big that if you don't have a set schedule you'll never meet up with anyone. Did anyone use walkie-talkies/2-way radios? If so, how did that work out? Did you buy one for everyone/one for each room? I'm assuming each room has a phone as well, right? That would be a lot of calling though... just hoping to hear how past brides handled this... or even current/future bridges.. what do you plan to do?

swankster77 ...i wouldn't worry too much on how you are going to keep in touch with your guests...you'll be surprised for the size of the place you will run into people all the time. if you are concerned about the 1st couple of days or guests coming on different dates just tell them to meet you at the tulum lobby bar (or wherever you decide). i've been to the resort 2x before and we either ran into friends at the coba pool bar, akumal beach, lobby bar or hacienda. most people did their own thing for dinner unless otherwise planned and met up afterwards for drinks.

Swankster - I know what a couple girls on another thread suggested, and I am going to do, is they are getting small white boards and going to leave it outside their room with wherever they are at on it.....so that is a thought too if you want people to be able to find you if they need to for some reason. Otherwise I think leaving it to chance is a good thing.....just preplan if there is something specific you want to do, like a rehersal the day before.

I e-mailed her ahead of time so that I was sure she would be able to swing it. Plus, I wanted everything in writing first in case she forgot or whatever. I think it's a good idea to get everything in e-mail before hand and then bring copies of it with you, just in case. I didn't have any problems but you never know what can happen.

I only made a meet up point for the first night dinner. Other then that it was fairly easy to find people. They were either at the pool, lobby bar or buffet. I like the idea of the white board though. That's one that I might have used if I heard it before now.

This is a very good idea! And much less expensive I'm sure - which I'm all about! Are you getting a white board for every room for your guests to us as well?

I just emailed Karla as it's officially 3 months until our big day!! (Well, a few days off but I'm too impatient!) I'm excited to start working on some of the details!

I like the whiteboard idea. I was thinking of including post-it notes in everyone's OOT bags so we can all leave each other notes if needed.
