We are probably one of the only couples on here that are not planning to have kids...ever. We are both not kid people, which is one of the things that was attractive to each other...we're also both 40 and pretty comfortable in our lifestyles...no kids for us!

It must suck so much for you and your mom Meghan to live so far apart. I am not sure I'd handle that with my mom, I am an only child.. she calls me at least 5 times a day lol!!!
At least she lives 20 mins away, not a walk over. But I love her to death!
I guess try to tell her as much as possible, which I am sure you already do! wink.gif
I live about 15 minutes from my parents, but don't see them too much - but I do talk to my mom all the time. FI's parents are about 10 minutes away and FI is an only child too - he is very close with his mom - sometimes close isn't about proximity though - it's all about how the relationship is.

Meghan- sorry to hear about the bridesmaid stress. I think you handled it well and based on her responses it sounds like she'll truly stick by your side and you made a good decision in selecting her.

Bridesmaids are causing me major stress. I originally selected 3: my sister and 2 cousins. Sister is booked. One cousin is NOT coming, and the other cousin won't book her trip until last minute. I'm so frustrated. None of my close girlfriends are coming so I can't pick them as replacements either sad.gif I'm considering asking my mom. I'm happy that other girlfriends will be there but I don't want to look at pictures 5 years from now, not know if i'll still be in touch with those people, and know that i just picked them as replacements. I'm so disappointed with my cousins that they couldn't step up when i needed them sad.gif

Need to finalize my mug order. DiscountMugs have a great price but I've read a couple not-so-great reviews. Are there people out there who have had good experiences with them? I know it's risky to go with them but I can't afford many of the other alternatives.

Need to prepare my pre-travel brochure. That's high on the to-do list.

I'm jealous of the stay-at-home chicas. I'll be working for a long time as the sole income while FI goes through school (he left the military to go back to school). Puts a damper on the kid plans too, as the only income it'll be a lot of pressure to go back to work quickly. I think kids are in the 4-year plan, but def. not the 2-year plan.

I'm in a crabby mood, sorry for my negativity. Damn bridesmaids sad.gif

Kimm,

It was me with the BM issues lol. But I got a handle on things now that I cleared the air. Man it felt good, one less thing to stress about. I am sorry your going through some bridal party stresses too sad.gif it's just no fun.

My MOH is also booking last min which makes me very nervous as the flight 'packages' are getting booked real fast.

I originally asked 4 girls, but then when we decided on the DW I asked one girl to step down as it wont be a big event, she had no problem cause she's not even coming. But Now I have 2 BM and 1 MOH and only 1 Bestman. So I wanted to ask 1 girl (SIL) not to walk down the aisle but to read the sand ceremony. Not like she's acting as a BM.. she's acting as a guest she didn't even pay for her dress (when the other girls did)

Me too I have to order the brochures (it's our welcome letter/things to do/guest room#)

but this will have to be last min sad.gif

It does suck being the care giver,my FI gets stress every once and awhile. But it's not that fun..especially if your use to working (like me) I've gone through some 'crazy' moments. Surprise the FI stuck with it lol.

I say, one day it'll be my turn to be the care giver, and I am sure your FI can give you some time off once his done with school.

For babies, I on the other hand would have loved to wait a few more years (as I am 25) but the FI is 34 so his a little more ready then me per say. But with the endometriosis the doctors suggest I have a baby right away and then go with either one of my 2 options to stop my period for good. So we will start trying right after the wedding... already started taking all the pre natal stuff.

I would have loved to enjoyed married life for a little bit, but I guess it doesn't matter much as we have been together for 6 years and lived together for 5 and half, I guess we had our quiet time lol. Fi wanted me to stay home for the first year with the baby and go back to work. Would be nice to have a job before getting pregnant to get MAT leave, but I don't see it happening. Especially with the endo I am sick every month, so hard to hold a job down sad.gif

Melidell

Aww you live far from mom too, I am sorry (at least you guys got the chance to go dress shopping together!!)

So do you just want 1, or more then that?

We're going to play that one by ear. We think maybe just one would be easier, but I worry about having an only child (I love having a brother- he was my best friend when we were kids and moved around all of the time). I also don't want to have kids much past the age of 35 really, just for health reasons, and I'm 33 now so we'd have to see how quickly it happens for us. We'll see how we feel after the first one. This is assuming that we can have kids naturally, we're not going to go to any extreme measures if we can't.

We're not sure about the baby thing yet. We've talked about it though. We may give it 6 months to 1 year before we start trying. I am 34, so I can't wait too long. If it doesn't happen for us naturally, we may go the adoption route.

Oops i had a mixup: Sorry Tracy, I meant my note about doing a good job handling the BM situation well to you; and to to Meghan I meant to send you best wishes regarding the bachelor party situation. I HATE when I know people are holding information back from me, there is really nothing more frustrating! Glad to hear it's a ski trip, that sounds harmless. But harmless or not, it's hurtful that they wouldn't tell you.

I ordered my wedding cake topper from Etsy. Custom made to look like me, FI, and our dog. It's adorable! Lynn was great to work with, I'd definitely recommend her! Here's the link... Etsy :: Reserved for kimmmyg

hehe... I wasn't sure if I should show FI or not bc she did such a great job of replicating my dress!

I love your cake topper! That is so sweet- and I like that you have your dog on it, too. I got one from a vendor on Etsy, too- mine's a seashell one from Shellscapes. Etsy is so great- I was doing some more shopping there just yesterday.

Here's what I bought:

Etsy :: CUSTOM gold leaf edge ring bearer bowl - as seen in Southern Weddings Magazine- the original modern heirloom by Palomas Nest- for wedding- commitment ceremony

With the same text but my wedding date

and

Etsy :: Black French Veiling w Feathers Rhinestones --- 15 Colors Available

but with black feathers and white veiling- to put in once I take my veil out for dinner.

I think I love the shopping part of wedding planning the best!

Kimmy, I love your cake topper, it's so cute!!! I just love that you put your dog on it. I totally had the same idea about putting my cats (but I have 4) so it wouldn't have worked lol.

speak of cake toppers I bought mine yesterday too. I'll post pic later (just woke up lol)

And no problem for the confusion, happens to me more often then I'd like to admit lol.

Michele,

I love the bowl, what an adorable idea!!!! I may steal it if you don't mind!! are you also having a flower girl?

I can see the problem with 1 child, but I grew up an only child and I loved it, yes of course I had my moments where I begged for my mom for a brother or sister. But my parents both had lost their jobs at one point or another while I was growing up, so lucky they just had me to worry about. Especially with the economy now and days.I just want 1 lol (FI wants to, too bad for him, cause of my health issues)

ShortnSweet,

Us to if things don't go planned concieving a child o-naturel then we will aslo conisder adopting. So many kids need it!!

But I am sure everything will get fine for you guys and you'll get what you want, you are deserve it! :)

Kimmy - your cake topper is so cute! I like that you've got your dog on there and I thought 'hey I'd do that" but then realized that FI would be upset if I had the dog and neither of the two cats on there... it would end up being more pets than people! LOL but that's our life so it would make sense too.

Thanks for the support about FI's bachelor party. My sister and I decided that it'll be best to just keep pretending that I don't know anything for two reasons. First, I can be smug that I know even though everyone will think they're so smart keeping their secret. Second - I get to ruin THEIR fun because now when they try to tease me about it and rub it in that they aren't going to tell me - I can pretend like it doesn't bother me at all and that it's okay if they don't tell me - which in the end will TOTALLY ruin all the fun they were having cheesy.gif Yes it's a little childish but it does make me feel better knowing I can get back at them just a little bit. I just hope this is the end of it because I'm worried about building up more of a grudge if they continue taunting me about the situation the next few weeks. We'll just wait and see I guess!
